Hi there! I am tryinnng Camtasia for PC.First I used my Logitech headset w mic - everything worked well. To obtain a higher sound quality, I bought and plugged in a USB mic, the AT2020. There is no doubt that the sound quality is much higher, but at the same time, the sound is "chipped"; it's like words or syllables have fallen out, and there is also a distortion of sound every now and the in every clip.
My settings are PCM mono 16 bit 22.050 khz for the Camtasia recording as well as for the audio/mic setting on my pc.
PLease help! I spent one whole entire Sunday trying to fix this - no solution yet. And I do want to use Camtasia, but obviously need to fix my sound issues!

Thanks you so much !

Hello Charlotte. Is it possible for you to upload a video with the sound clip you have recorded with that problem? It might be easier to help with hearing the problem itself. There are numerous factors when it comes to recording that can cause background noises or a distorted sound. For example the placement of the mic and the loudness of your speaking and distance from your mouth to mic. It could also be a Windows Setting. Have you tried recording just audio with something like Audacity which is a free editing software for audio and did it have the same problem?

Let us know and I am sorry to hear of the inconvenience and would like to help if possible. Have a great day and thanks for posting.

Fred,

Thanks for answering so rapidly. I'll see if I can upload an example. Before I do, just one more question:
I googled around a little last night, and there seems to be information "out there" that the set-up I have is not ideal for Camtasia: I worked on a Mac, using VMware to create a virtual pc.

Do you think this could be the cause of my trouble????

I really appreciate your help!

Thanks, Charlotte

Charlotte you should see a Share Tab inside of your screencast where you uploaded it. If you click on that it will give you a link to share and you can post it here if you want to. Let me know and I will try to find it. No Charlotte I do not know your email because I do not have access to that. I am just a user like you and do not work for TechSmith. Post the link as I could not find it. Thank you and have a great day.

Fred,

Just got this from support, seems my VMware probably is the factor that messes up my mic-input.

"VM Ware, and most virtual machine management applications are notorious for having problems with sharing physical input/output connections with their host computers (there will be times the keyboard or mouse might stop working completely). Most likely this is the case that you are running in to, but to be sure, I would recommending testing out one of the other virtual machine management applications, like Parallels. However, officially, running virtual machines is unsupported by TechSmith, as it is not a technology that is widely used in situations where the application requires a large amount of system resources."

I'm going to get myself a pc !

Thanks for your time and your willingness to reach out and help. That's very kind of you.

Your Welcome Charlotte. I did take a listen and I would have to agree with what TechSmith had to say about this issue. It is hard to control audio using this environment but, as they suggested you might want to try other virtual machines to see if they react the same. What kind of PC are you looking into getting? I am always willing to reach out and help when I can. Your kind words would make a great testimonial for my site. Have a great day and if you have any further questions feel free to ask.

I am working on a new one that will offer WordPress Setup and Maintenance videos with a lot of training videos for Camtasia Studio 7. I am not sure when it will be completed but, my current site has not been updated for awhile and it is www.poderosaranch.com It has some old but I feel useful information on it and I have been pretty busy with work so I have not had as much time to spend on it as I would like to.

I'll check the old website now and then for info.

Thanks and good luck to you!

Randy,

Thanks! Yes it did. I am now on an actual pc instead of the virtual and the sound is fine.

What I need right now, is the ability to mute individual audio tracks - is there a way to do that? I do not see individual mute buttons on the audio tracks.

Thanks for your help - great service!

Charlotte
