I'm reposting this from the old forums....

When I record voice narration, I do it in clips. The audio will record fine for a whole session or it will start fine but then all the sudden it drops down and sounds very hollow. These clips are recorded during the same session, with the same mic. Sometimes the recording function returns to normal and sometimes it does not. The issue appears sporadically and I have no idea how to fix it. I've tried rerecording, starting a new project, restarting the machine. There seems to be no pattern as to why this occurs.

After the audio went haywire yesterday and I restarted, I tried to use the Audio setup wizard to do the auto adjust volume. When I read the phrase provided, each time it said I was not speaking loud enough. I was speaking in a louder than normal tone right into the mic. When I did the auto adjust only a few hours earlier, it worked just fine and that's also when my audio was recording okay.

Oh, one other thing. The hollow audio clips also "look" different on the timeline. They are more flat than those that sound okay.

I appreciate any help with this issue. thanks!!

Hi, I'm not sure if you tried support, but I'm going to give them a heads up on this issue because I think they will be your best shot.

Can you fill out a ticket here and reference this thread? Thanks! http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/ask

Thanks Mike! I went to fill out a ticket but first saw the suggestions in Answer ID
1716 so I tried those. Well, the only one that really applied was checking the USB connection. It seemed fine but I jammed it in extra hard just to be safe. ;) Anyway, the narration worked fine on my first attempt so I was able to fix the bum clips from yesterday. I'm crossing my fingers that fixed the issue and it's not coincidence. Anyway, if the issue occurs again, I will file the support case as you suggested. Thanks for your help!!
