Audio tracks

In Camtasia Studio 8, is there a way to have the screen and the various audio tracks separate again?

I really don't like having one of the audio tracks overlayed on the video track. I do a lot of replacing video snippets while keeping audio intact and now I can't do that anymore.

In general not a fan of the new Camtasia 8 and if it wasn't for needing to render to HTML5, i'd go back. 7 was great.

Right-click on the combined audio/video track and select "Separate video and audio". That will split the track into two tracks, one for video and another one for the audio.

(I have not really tried this feature myself, just noticed it existed when I was playing around in the product)

Stefane, Hugo is correct on this option and it still works the same way in Camtasia Studio 8. If you have problems or more questions on this please post them back if this doew not work for you. Thanks for posting and thank you Hugo for pointing this out. Have a great day.

I have 8.4 and this does not work.  The audio is invisible.

Why is something as crucial as this not being answered and/or addressed. I simply am aghast. What possible excuse is there for a company marketing something that is frustrating and almost useless to work with. None of the suggestions made work with Camtasia Studio Version 8.4.3 (Build 1792) What gives? I'm reduced to fishing here for answers because I cannot get access company support. This is ridiculous!!!!  I will have to go looking for FREE software that gives me access to audio tracks etc. below.  Please, someone restore some semblance of sanity to this particular discussion. A simple question that should have a simple answer. How do I access the more tracks than the single one that lays half buried at the bottom of my Camtasia screen?

Ok, this is the question that was originally asked below:

So what are you all recording and how are you setting up your recordings. The first thing asked was Is there a way to have the screen and the various audio tracks separate again? Well I have recorded portions of video with audio and they video and audio are on separate tracks when editing in the latest version of Camtasia Studio 8.4.3. So I am a little confused on how you got the audio track overlayed on the video track - Are you saying that it is all on the same track, separate tracks or you would like to see them all on the same track with the ability to separate the audio from the video like it was in Camtasia Studio 7? If that is the case then I have to say I like having the audio and video on separate tracks for editing with the newest version of Camtasia Studio 8.4.3 myself. Just my opinion.

Let us know with a little more detail of what you are trying to accomplish and how you are recording and what you are recording that you would want this funtions changed for please. Upload a video explaining it or some screenshots as that might help others to understand exactly what you are looking for in the long run. Thanks and have a great day.

Thanks so much for responding. Here it is Fred (see pic). While the recording ( ScribblarMichelle ) comes up in the Clip bin, and I can delete sections in the track below, I cannot got more tracks that indicate sound volume etc.  I've tried grabbing the file and dropping it on the track, but cannot. Probably a simple solution if you know the trick, but I did not need a trick before, and cannot discover it anywhere, though I've spent much time trying.

You need to adjust the Camtasia Editor Layout. See Image Below, Click to Enlarge.

Bingo!  Tried dragging everything everywhere else, but somehow missed that. Thanks so much Joe. Was getting very frustrated, now just feeling a bit sheepish. Ha.
