Auto-crop window screenshots.

I use AirServer to mirror my iPhone's screen so that I can easily take screens directly in SnagIt (versus taking a screenshot on my phone and then copying/sending it to the PC).  The problem is that the AirServer window letterboxes my phone's screen so there are always black bars on the side.  I'd like just the screen content in the saved image, so it would be great if SnagIt could auto-crop out the black bars rather than requiring me to manually drag the crop edges over and hope that I'm not 1px off either way.

It will probably take some experimentation to get the trim settings right. But you could set up a custom capture profile.Use "Trim" as an effect. Trim the sides. That where the experimentation comes in. Once you get the setting right.Your all set.

Have you experimented with the Auto Trim tool in the SnagIt editor?

I often end up with similar happenings and Auto Trim helps. If you try clicking it and nothing seems to happen, you might first try using the fill tool to fill with a solid color. Often I end up having to do that.

Cheers... Rick :)

Rick - that was it.  Joe got me to the Trim Effect and your suggestion of Auto Trim did it!  This is definitely going to save me a ton of work and yield better results.  Thanks to you both!

Er.. I hate to throw a curve ball just when you thought you have the answer but there's another way.  Set up TechSmith Fuse on your phone, add it as a mobile device in Snagit and you can send screen captures from your phone straight into the editor.

I use it all the time.  It's magical when you share the screen shot and it just appears on your PC
