Auto file name in Snagit

Can somebody tell me why I don't see the sequence of choices shown in the Help file for Automatic file naming?  Don't see the choices in either the Capture WIndow or Snagit Editor, but frankly I'm not sure what those are.  Views or what?

Help file says

Capture window > View Profiles > Manage Profiles > Share Properties > Image File Tab > Automatic File Name > Options

Snagit Editor > Share tab > Share Properties button > Image File Tab > Automatic File Name > Options

Well, here's what I see from the Capture profile.

I guess #3 means "click on the little sun-shape"? :)  I'll try that!

Yeah, sorry for not being clearer.

Actually, I believe what the shape is, is a gear or a sprocket.

As for the editor, it seems maybe help needs updating. But I found some automatic options here:

Thanks very much!

But regarding the Help file, that is really convoluted.  Isn't it really just:

  • File > New capture > Manage profiles . . . Share> [Whatever the sprocket is] > . . . etc?

I have to admit I don't know what either "Capture" or "Editor" is. Views? Windows? Popups? Different versions of Snagit?

Because neither set of instructions seems to apply to anything.  Shouldn't this stuff be at least close to intuitive?

Hi Suobs,

Can you tell me what version of Snagit you are using?

Just downloaded trial a few days ago so I assume it's the latest.

Hi,

Yes, we do try to make our software as intuitive as possible.

However, there are some basics I think will help you since you are not familiar at all with the Capture interface or the Editor part of the software.

This is a good place to begin:
http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-snagit-12-introduction.html

I encourage you to watch our free Getting Started videos so you will get the most out of your trial period.
You will find that tutorial page is also chock-full of other tutorials on capture types, output options, and more.

Once you watch a couple of videos, let us know if there is anything else we can help you with as you evaluate Snagit.
