Would be nice if Jing could also provide the ability to take auto-scroll screen capture like SnagIt does.

It would be nice. You might want to put a suggestion or request in for that to TechSmith. They should be able to see it here also. I cannot say if they will consider adding that or not but, it is worth a shot to request it. Thanks for posting.

I can see why people would like scrolling capture in Jing—I would use it occasionally too! However, it's unlikely that scrolling capture will be added to Jing. We strive to keep Jing's feature set small and remain focused on the core task of quickly sharing informal images and videos.

Snagit's scrolling capture feature is just one of many capabilities it offers beyond Jing. If you've not tried Snagit, you can get a fully functional, 30-day trial and check it out. http://www.techsmith.com/snagit/

Hi Mike, what are the chances of a blur tool for Jing? See:

I could really use that. I have Snagit, but I find myself using Jing most of the time cause it's faster.

Jing is stupid. What is the point of it anyway? If I JUST want a screen shot I'll take a screen shot. Without scrolling it is pretty useless. Hey, at least it's free, even if pointless.

I am sorry you feel that way about Jing. For me, I work for a Dot-Com company and helping new member's, Jing is an invaluable tool to show sreenshots of features and how to use them, and most important videos to show our costumers how to use features in more detail. It is so quick to make a 2 minute video to show someone how to use a feature. I don't bother using Camtasia for videos, cause I need the videos ASAP. I can have a how-to video recorded and uploaded in minutes.

Enhances customer support BIG TIME.

For me Jing is one of the best programs I have ever used.

If I want to capture an image with Jing which is longer than the screen, how do I do it. I cant scroll down the screen using the mouse or arrow keys to capture the bottom of the image, whilst I am capturing the visible image (the screen is "locked") ?

No, Jing won't scroll, you would need to get Snagit.

Jing is free because it's used to get-you-to-need-something, like auto-scrolling or other features so you can actually buy its flagship product called SnagIt.
