Those were simple images. While they did have increments, I don't believe they auto incremented. I believe you had to specifically add the image, then change it. Or change it before clicking to add it.

Are you possibly thinking about the Step tool?

My version 13 stamps don't increment as each stamp is adding to the reasons supporting why I see version 13 a downgrade from version 12.

Version 12 Number Stamps did auto-increment with each successive addition.  They also allowed the user to enter a number from which to start when the sequence needed to continue on another image.

This feature is important in technical writing, but it had limitations.  For example, the number of numeric stamp styles was small.  There wasn't any method or information in how to create a new stamp, and there weren't any alphabetical-stamps available.

Interesting, because before I replied earlier I had closed 13 and opened 12 just to be sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. Maybe one of the later updates to 12 stopped that functionality?

The Windows Screen Capture Utility
Version 12.4.1 (Build 3036)

Can you share the version your About installation shows?

Same build as what you listed.

Perhaps it would help if you could provide a step-by-step of how you go about it?

Also, I'm not sure if it matters, but I have SnagIt 13 installed as well.

Cheers... Rick :)

The stamps, in any version, themselves never autonumbered.  As Rick said, stamps are just simple images. Each can have a different number but it's all manual.  It's the step tool that increments the numbers automatically and it works in both versions 12 and 13.  Here it is showing for both versions..

I created a short video that shows how number stamps in SnagIt v12.4.1 can be added as annotations.  Each stamp that gets placed shows its number is automatically incremented.  Near the end, an extra number is added so as to show how its starting value can be changed so the next sequence will increment the displayed value starting at a different count.

I don't have any webspace where I can store the file that provides a URL, but I can send it or place it someplace, or I can follow directions on where to place it.

Do you have any ideas where the file can be placed?

You can insert a video directly here as you are responding by clicking the video camera icon directly below the text entry box.

My Video is on my desktop.  When the Camera Icon is clicked, it displays a line of text that only  accepts a URL, instead of providing a 'Browse' button to upload the video.

I can understand why they don't want to store video files, and if I had accounts at the locations they allow, I could have posted the video in one of those locations.

This image is a screen capture near the end of the video.  I hope this helps.

That's GetSatisfaction for you.  You are right the video needs to be hosted somewhere else on the cloud.  You can use from any cloud provider you want such as TechSmith's free version of Screencast here https://www.techsmith.com/screencastcom.html

I'd like to see your video showing your solution.

Manny, this was a neat recommendation.  I've been with Techsmith for a long time and never knew they had this available.  Thank you for sharing the link.

Here is the quick example of how I use SnagIt's stamps to automatically number annotation leader lines from an image so it can be used in a "How-to-Use" technical document.  I'm pasting the URL here: http://tinyurl.com/qxdoyyq

It isn't posted using the "Camera-Icon-Option" because when I tried to use that approach it reported this message:
"VIDEO: http://tinyurl.com/qxdoyyq from YouTube. Vimeo. Brainshark. Wistia Sorry, that provider is not supported! Cancel"

Thanks.  It's clear that you are using the Step Tool for this not Stamps.   I can see the Step Tool highlighted in your video. That's what we are discussing in this thread.  Don't worry it's easy to get a little mixed up with the Snagit terminology.  But basically we all agree that with the Step Drawing Tool you can add autonumbering annotations in a capture.

OMG, I found it now. Its placed ("hidden") under "list" instead of "Stamps. Thanks for your hint @rdrines. You saved my day :-)

Dexter image said to look for Stamps in the v13's "More" area instead of the Stamp group.

When the More menu was scrolled down, it showed a menu with an icon graphic that was previously used to designate Stamps in earlier SnagIt versions.  These additional Stamps enable numbers and letters to automatically increment as they are added to an image.  These additional Stamps are in the More submenu using the name Step.

Dexter's version appears to be using German, but "Liste" translate to List instead of Step.  German translation for Step is "Schritte".  However the words translate, all the Stamps should be listed in the Stamp group so this kind of confusion isn't left to random discovery.

The Step tool is available from the toolbar in V 13.  The toolbar can be modified so that more tools show.  If the step tool is not shown then clicking the more drop down list will make it available. The toolbar can be modified to show the tool as I showed in my attachment above.  The step tool has a similar icon in both version 12 and 13 -  Three little circles with numbers in it.  This article describes how to use the step tool:  https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/215851467-Step

The Step Tool should not be confused with Stamps.  Stamps are simple graphics containing artwork that can be added to your capture.  While there are Stamps with numbers, each number is its own individual graphic and must be incrementally added by the user unlike the Step tool which increments itself.
Here's more about stamps and what is available:
https://www.techsmith.com/snagit-accessories-stamps.html?utm_source=product&utm_medium=snagit&am...

Since the Step Tool and Stamps are different then they are not listed together on purpose.  If one thinks of them as different methods of annotating a capture then it should clarify matters.
