Snagit callouts need two tails!

I love Snagit, BUT... it sure would be handy if "Ballons" could have more than One Pointer. Some times I need to indicate or compare areas of my screenshot. Two Pointers from the Same Balloon could say "See how these compare"?

We hear you. The Mac version of Snagit actually does that. I've been in that situation before. The workaround takes a while... I make two callouts, and overlay them. Then I zoom way in and use the white (or whatever the background color of the callout is) and "erase" the line where the underneath tail is sticking out from.

I like the Mac way better where you can just right click and "add tail". I'm not sure what the status of this idea at this very moment, but we'll update it as we know more.

I think this is a great idea! I wasn't aware it was in the Mac version until I saw the SnagIt Tips photo set on Facebook today. I WANT THIS FOR WINDOWS!

Hi,

When is this coming for Windows? I now have to bring my Mac to work to do just this.

Please do it quick!

I am trying to point out two related items with a single callout. Can I add a second 'tail' to the callout that I have selected.

Just as an FYI, I've been known to use this workaround to get the 2-tail look I need.

It involves 2 callouts and a small white line. It's not perfect, but it's fast and close to the look of having two tails:

Are there any callouts with 2 or more "tails"? Sometimes when putting a callout containing instructions on a screen capture I need to point to more than one location, needing two "tails" right now I just copy the existing callout paste it under the first and use that tail to point to the second location - is there any ability to create a second tail that i don't know about?

Like people on this thread and many people in the forum, we often need to have 2, 3, or more tails for one callout... The work around is just that, a work around and it takes quite a bit of time. Be great to have this option; too bad it was not part of version 11.

Has this been added to the Windows 11 version? I can only find it in the Mac version.

It's still only in the Mac version. I don't have any short-term news as to when or if it will appear in Windows at this time. Sorry Peter.

single call out with multiple arrows..

If you could add a call out with multiple arrows that would great. Can't tell you how many times I have a call out for multiple items on a photo. Current I just add more arrows and get them just so to look like they integrate with the call out.

Snagit11 Windows - Callouts with 2 or More Tails?.

The manual says  "To add another tail, Control-click on the callout and select Add Tail (Snagit on Mac only)."

Does this mean that PC users cannot create a callout with 2 or more tails without creating 2 bubbles and whiting out the area to make it appear as 2? If we can, how? I don't see a way so far.

The handling of callouts still often is a pain. Often it is difficult to hit the small area where the right-click pops up the little tiny callout property menu. This is a major UI failure in the program. Please TechSmith, improve this!

I've just asked about this feature and the brilliant "TechSmith Support" pointed me to this post.  I think it would be an XLNT feature to have the ability to be able to pull out the call-handles, in this way you could have one or multiple on a single call-out.

The more likes we get for a particular post the better chance it has at getting considered.

Hi "emailme", we've been asking for this function for so long already... I hope they will eveeeeeentually "get it" that it is needed (and stop taking away functions that we use, just because THEY think it is not needed).

Anyway, so I'm adding my vote for the multiple tail call-out again.

I agree that it would be a great addition.
What you can do is this.  Copy and paste a callout directly over the other one. You can add as many tails as you want that way. It's not as convenient as a multi tailed callout. But I do it all the time. See Image Below, Click to Enlarge.

Thanks Joe. If you look at the top of the thread, you will see that Mike Curtis has suggested that 4 years ago also. If you look at your picture, you will notice where the underlying tails meet the top callout, it leaves a line. We require something that looks more professional than that! To erase & colour it, like Mike Curtis suggested, takes simply too much time, for a feature that should be so simple to add.

Hi,

I just want to acknowledge that we have seen this thread (again).

I personally would love to have an "add a callout tail" option for my own work so I don't have to do the "add another callout, flatten them, try to remove the line so it doesn't look funky" workaround routine.

While I do not know why we don't have this feature, or if we will ever have this feature, I have sent an email on to those who might be
able to look into this and perhaps get this on a dev backlog for future work.

I appreciate your continued discussion on this particular topic and will do my best to keep this thread in sight of the dev teams so it is not forgotten. I know this isn't much, but it is the best I can do.

In the meantime, please don't hesitate to continue to post about your need and desire to have this feature in a future release of Snagit (Windows).

I really need the two (or more) tails for callouts. I write technical documentation, and have to settle for less professional looking boxes and arrows. I really wish this feature would be added. It would make a huge difference in the look of my work.

It can't be that hard to add the feature.
What is the problem?

I have a need for this feature today on a trial version of Snagit for PC at my new company and have only just realised that only the Mac version of Snagit has this feature. I'd like to add to the requests to have this feature enabled. It seems like it would be fairly simple.

Unfortunately, it is not in version 13. I too would need this option.

The best way to implement this would be an entry in the Callout object context menu "Add a tail/arrow".

OH XXXX! It has been on the wishlist for only five years! Do we have to wait another five years? From what I understand the MAC version has the additional tail(s).
OOoooooo DAMN!

I'm really bummed that they don't seem to be working on this... 5 years?!?!  I've switched from a Mac company to a Windows company and really miss the multiple tails in the callouts... There a LOT of fooling around you have to do to make a document look professional because of this...
