I stand to be corrected on this, but I  don't think It's a feature that is available for us to employ. Instead, I believe that "Banner Messaging" is perhaps a feature that will present a banner across the top of the application that will alert us users when TechSmith has news to share related to the product.

Hopefully one of the devs or an official TechSmith representative will pop in to clarify.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks, Rick.

I hope it's not what you say. Last thing I want while working on a project is messages from Techsmith. It's hard enough getting rid of those new Microsoft product pop-ups that started with the last W10 update.

We'll have to wait and see what Techsmith means by "banner messaging," I suppose.

13 March, 2018: Camtasia (Windows) 9.1.2
  • Improvements to color contrasts in user interface to increase legibility and reduce fatigue.
  • Added banner messaging in-product for reaching users with timely and relevant information.
  • Fixed issue where viewer could not enter a jump-to-time in quiz feedback.
  • Fixed issue where jump-to-marker was not displaying a list of markers in quiz feedback.
  • Other bug fixes and improvements.

Doesn't sound like anything I'm interested in. I think it's time to set my Camtasia firewall settings to Outgoing ONLY.

Regards,Joe

As long as it's infrequent and not a tool used to cram unwanted advertising down my throat, I think it would be a positive move. For example, say there is some bug that has been discovered that is plaguing folks. It would be great to see a push message notifying folks that a fix has been found or an update is ready.

But that's just me... Rick :)

are these banners served up if your're signed in in Camtasia [upper right hand part of editor UI]; has anyone worked "signed in" and seen anything?  I've never affirmatively "signed in" when using Camtasia so a little curious

Hard to say, it was just added 2 weeks ago. I never sign in myself.

If I get obnoxious banner notifications, I'll block them if I can't shut them off through the firewall.

As far as updates go Rick, You can get those through automatic update checking if you want. However, TechSmith updates tend to come with new bugs.

I tend to wait before installing updates. See if anyone's complaining in the forum. About new crashes or problems after updating. Why subject myself to being the Guinea Pig?
