You would think that a software company that can build a video editing platform as complicated as Camtasia, could figure out how to do a simple POLL... maybe use SURVEY MONKEY. ;-)
Frankly you asked me to vote but then expected me to write a paragraph.. and nothing I want was even on the list!
I WANT - NEED - MOV codec editing capabilities.

I'm guessing this relates to using the GetSatisfaction forums here to "vote" on issues instead of something like Survey Monkey?

a post is this paragraph.
bottom line is that I need MOV codec support.
I hate having to buy APPLE computer to work with MOV Codec.
I hate having to buy and learn AVID to work with MOV Codec.

MOV is a container that stores content created using a CoDec.

I found the thread at this link and below is a screen capture of the relevant bits to this thread.

I'm not sure about your exact situation, but it seems possible that the answer to your frustrations may lie in a simple install of a maintenance release?

Cheers... Rick :)

So poeticlouise,

I don't know if your working with mov's with transparency or mov's that simply won't import into Camtasia because because they've dropped support for QuickTime codecs in Camtasia 9.

You could install Camtasia 8 and activate it using a Camtasia 9 key. You can have both versions installed on the same computer, it's perfectly legal. You can download Camtasia 8 from here.

https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions

What you need to do is install the Apple QuickTime codecs. "ONLY" Not the player or anything else. The codecs are not a security risk. It's connecting to the internet through the player, etc that creates a problem.

This video explains how to install them correctly and what's happened clearly. I have the QuickTime codecs on my machine and have all along.I use Adobe products and have Camtasia 8 and 9 installed as well. The codecs are a must have codec for video editors everywhere.

Regards,Joe
