Right now it can be pretty hard to find the right stamp to fit my need. I'll often spend way too much time browsing between folders. And the top level folders are often empty placeholders.
I'd really like to search or have a better mechanism for browsing the existing stamps.

THIS IS A MOST USED FEATURE for many of us
Please make it easy to open the stamps viewer with a link readily available (not even 2 clicks away)
If you are use a database, the ability to assign keywords would be helpful
Optionally keep that window open or close after a selection and PLEASE code a key to quickly close it (ESC?)
Have a button on the window that pops up to go directly to the favorites folder so we can immediately access the stamps we have tweaked and saved
This is off the top of my head and there is a lot more that will fall under "interface tweaks while you're at it"
Please keep in mind that one of the core uses of snagit has been to mark up screen captures even using outside graphics. This is keeping you ahead of Faststone and other products out there
Thanks again for listening

I've somewhat overcome this by creating a stamps folder named 0001 - Often Used. The 0001 causes it to float to the top and always be listed first.

For this I've learned to latterly build my own stamp folders. There was a huge change from 12-> where the stamps show up way larger and that was due to the DPI resolution.
I just went back and re-saved each .PNG 49x49 again and built my own stamp folder.
I create documentation all day long so having Blue numbers and letters together was a lifesaver for me!

If you do close this I would be more than happy to reintroduce it at a later date. This is one of the better examples of what was broken along the way

I see this was requested 2 years ago https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/quick-stamp-search but is still not in the poduct.
I confirm what the others said. it is very time consuming scrolling through all the quick stamps to find what you want. It needs a search function please.

thank you for the new version 13. Maybe, i think stamps use and managment as to be improved.
I have lots of stamps ( i buy superstamps v4 and download all the techsmith stamps). I put all of them in the stamps folder. ( all stamps are in subfolders)
The problem.
It's very difficult to browse for searching a stamps ( when you don't remember in witch subfolder it is exactly).
The stamp pannel ( where i can select the one i want to use) is to small.
When
i clic on "organize stamps", it's better, the pannel is bigger and i
can browse the stamps faster but i can't select it using "orgainze
stamps". So i have to locate the stamps using "organize stamps" then go
back to the small stamps pannel ( in the right of the screen) to select
it.
Not very easy.
For the more, you'll can add a "favorite stamps" bookmark
Can you do something for next update ?
i send you some screen captures of what i need
thank you

I know this is in the "planned" stage. The concern was key-wording would be cumbersome for the search. It would be nice to allow the user to build the keywords and associate them with the stamps. This allows the user more flexibility when creating their own stamps and building search keywords!

I bought super stamps. It is a very tedious process navigating the folder structure. I can't see all the wonderful stamps wihtout spending hours go back and forth on the little arrows. You need a better way to show the stamps fast and easily.

Stamp->Quick Styles: Snag-in for Mac needs the same up and down arrow category selection functionality, as the Windows version already has, as without it makes it VERY cumbersome to quickly move through the categories to preview what is in them.

When writing this topic I got this: "We found 1160 similar conversations". ;-)
However I APPEAL to TechSmith implement a Stamps Search feature!
In the meantime, I will explain an alternative Stamps search:
Follow exactly these steps:
1. Download and install Everything from: http://www.voidtools.com/
2. Start Everything and enter this into the Everything search bar:
a) If you are a user of a former Snagit version who upgraded to Snagit 13:
"C:\Users\Peter\Documents\Snagit Stamps\"|"C:\Program Files (x86)\TechSmith\Snagit 13\Stamps"
Note:
• Replace the paths with the according paths on your computer.
• Adjust the user name by replacing "Peter" with your user name.
• Add a space at the end (after the last double quote).
b) If you are a new user of Snagit and your version is Snagit 13:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\TechSmith\Snagit 13\Stamps"
Note:
• Replace the path with the according path on your computer.
• Add a space at the end (after the last double quote).
3. In Everything, open the Bookmarks menu and click on Add to Bookmarks...
Ensure that these options are selected in the Bookmark dialog:

Click on OK.
4. In Everything, in the Bookmarks men, click on the bookmark you have created in the previous step.
5. Now enter the search term after the space character at the end of the path(s) in the Everything search bar, e.g. "heart" or "vehicles", for example:

6. Now drag the desired image from Everything to the Snagit Editor window and drop it on the desired image.

If you have a variety of stamps there is no longer a good way to find and insert them into a document. The organizer is useless as you can't even insert a stamp from there.
This needs to be fixed so we can easily browse and insert stamps into documents quickly and easily
Thanks

New in Snagit 2019 is the ability to type a search term or two and find the stamp you need, pronto. It even works with basic color names!
All the stamps that ship with Snagit 2019 and that are currently available for download on the TechSmith website are now searchable. If you downloaded stamps from our site prior to October 23, 2018, you’ll want to re-download them to make them searchable.
Pro tip: if you use a certain stamp often, there’s no need to search for it every time! Click the star icon to add it to your new Favorite tool and keep it handy.
(oooh, that's meta)
On Mac, you can also right-click or CTRL-click a stamp to add your own search terms to a custom stamp you create (or edit the search terms on any stamp). That functionality is not currently available on Windows.
Thanks to all who voted for this idea in our community feature request round-up. Let us know how you're using stamps to communicate more quickly and clearly! And if you have feedback on the search terms, let us know; we expect to refine the keywords over time.
Next steps:
- Download Snagit 2019
- See top, new features
- See a longer list of new features on the version history pages for Windows and Mac.

I gave up on that one.
Next I flipped the coin and went for the positive symbols:

Search is only as good as the keyword tagging, which needs to be accurate and comprehensive. From my limited testing it appears to be neither. If I have to spend time thinking about and entering multiple search terms then search is no good to me. I can't waste time trying to imagine what wacky keywords the person(s) or machine used to tag an image.
I note the Mac version has the ability to add/edit keywords and that might be coming to the Windows version. Seriously, why? You want me to correct the bad keywords? Seriously?
Nice concept. Poor implementation. For a search function, somone needed to sit down and check the tags. Shame no-one did.

To me, here in the USA the "X" is a "X" and that's where its found under search.

A tick is an insect that can give you lime disease.

And a tick is a refereed to as a CheckMark over here traditionally. At least thats what I called them when I was growing up.
Which dwindles the choices down to 1 in search. Another fine example of for to little search criteria. In my opinion. And an unintended bias for American users as well I suspect.

I might add that a tick is also the keyboard key in the upper left ( ` ).

Thanks for your detailed feedback! It seems much of the confusion is coming from small differences between US and British English, so thank you for pointing those out to us!
As for some of your other concerns, you mentioned that there were 3 items that had nothing to do with the word check. Those stamps represent a medical checklist, and mobile spell-check, so that's why those are showing up.
A little more on why the keywords are editable, this was mainly designed so that you could add keywords to any custom stamps that you create, making it easier to find them. It does give you the ability to fix existing ones here and there, but our intent was not that you'd have to rewrite hundreds of them.
I hope this clears things up a bit, and we'll see about updating the keywords to be more robust.

The application of keywords has clearly not followed any consistent approach.

We released 2019.1.0 today and it includes some improvements to the stamp search keywords, especially for our friends across the pond.

I did Help > Check for updates today.
- The checking-for-updates spinner spun for about 5 minutes and then told me there was an update.
- I said OK and left it to it
- Later I checked and the editor was still 2.0.1
- I checked for updates again.
- The spinner spun for 10 minutes and got nowhere

What version did you upgrade from? Is this on windows?
It might be better to start a new topic for this, since it can get a little buried here in the stamp search conversation.

I understand your frustration. Hopefully, it will get fine-tuned.
At the very least, I would be ecstatic if the ability to add our own keywords is included with the Windows version of Snagit and not just MAC. (ASAP please!)

The product is sold internationally but is biased to US terminology. This is search 101 basics - whatever. Search has to respond to the user. As it is currently implemented, users are required to respond to the needs of the search function by guessing what alien tems might have been used.
This is like turning web searches back to 1995 when "colour" wasn't accepted but "color"

As for the color VS colour bit, I have a dear friend in England that I was having a fun chat with one day. I jokingly said something about them inserting a U in the word and he corrected me by saying "Excuse me, but you guys REMOVED it!".
Perspective is everything, no?
Cheers... Rick :)

Grammarly have this to say on the subject:
"When choosing between color and colour, keep in mind that both spellings are correct. The shorter one, color, is the preferred spelling in the United States. The rest of the English-speaking world uses the longer form, colour"
But on a serious note. I have spent 40 years working with and for US companies on internationalisation issues and it is depressing how every new wave of US employees has to be taught from scratch that the whole world doesn't weigh things in pounds, measure them in inches, spell things "wrong," call football soccer and so on.
I would have hoped that in 2018, a company with global sales would have learned a bit about internationalising a product instead of taking a narrow parochial view.
As for the search only applying to PDF stamps, that's all I have been searching on because I haven't inserted any of my own. No my issue is that having lauded this fantastic new searching capability, ZERO effective effort has been put into tagging the stamps in a way that allows them to be a) found and b) to produce consistent results.
Web search engines have two pillars.
1. A search algorithm
2. A powerful indexing capability
- and that allows me to find almost anything instantaneously across hundreds of billions of pages.
SnagIt can't even produce sensible search results across a few hundred images.
The net result is that I will continue to do what I have always done.
1. Use a SnagIt stamp if I can find it in a few seconds
2. Else, use iconfinder.com to search tens of thousands of icons in a heartbeat and get reliable results.
In fact, there's an idea. Why not replace the stamps section with an integration to iconfinder.com? Then you'd also get an icon that is in png format, that you can recolour in Snagit using the bucket fill.
