Wonders of Wonders, Miracles of Miracles. Good job Team Camtasia.
Having been involved in the software industry for a very long time, I'm still quite concerned though. These monumental rewrites always have big issues in the first version regardless of the company. Community temper your excitement. Its super awesome that its being released The 9.5 will be the one to watch for.

Unless you purchased 8 like a week or two prior to 9, I'm pretty sure it will be a paid upgrade. ;)
Well that does not make me happy , I just bought the Camtasia Studio 8 for windows for $299 and now if I have to pay another $149... then i would have paid $448.00 for the new software. Something does not seem right here. I hope they cut us some slack and offer discount to those who bought in June 2016.
Actually they should allow 6 months free update if purchased in the last 6 months. Thats a lot of money. Just saying.

Okay there are some options for you here that you might want to consider.
If you purchased Camtasia 8 within the last 30 days you can still get a full refund on that purchase. Then just wait until whatever time next month that Camtasia 9 is released and purchase it instead.
If you've already owned Camtasia 8 for over 30 days. There is still an option that is a cheaper in the long run that's available. What you can do is purchase a maintenance contract "Agreement maybe?" I'm not 100% sure what exactly it's called off the top of my head but it is a maintenance contract none the less. It will entitle you to a free upgrade to Camtasia 9 when it's released.
The price of a maintenance contract is 50% lower than the cost of an upgrade. The maintenance contract is good for one year after purchasing.

Is there a limitation on when the maintenance contract can be bought? I bought my copy for windows on June 4th just over 3 months ago. So whom do I Contact to get the maint. Contract? Anybody specific ?

ok i found out that they will allow a maintenance agreement added to your purchase if its within 6 months of buying the original. I fit into that range so I am cool, The cost is $74.75 which i assume will be cheaper than the usually $149.50 upgrades in the past. I can wait until up to the release time to see which is cheaper at that time. Hope this information is helpful to others as well. Thanks.
Hoping it is version 9 but if not, some other product that works well with Camtasia will also suffice.

I think if that were the case it wouldn't be a "Camtasia" announcement. It would likely be a "TechSmith" announcement!

What software did you use to make that ? Just curious.
I used After Effects to create the animation. Then I exported individual frames as Psd's. The GIF was created in PhotoShop.

Great and exciting on the new Camtasia. I have been with you for years. Yes, there may be new things to contend with a brand new design, however, Techsmith has proven to respond quickly to get "bugs" fixed and so I cannot wait.
Question: Will those thore on Maintenance agreements get notified or do we still have to sign up? I have been on maintenance agreements for both MAC and PC on Snagit and Camtasia for years. I cannot wait.
