black bars above and below video after uploading to LMS

When i produce and share my video onto my LMS black bars appear above and below the video (in widescreen mode on powerpoint) and on right and left side (in standard mode on powerpoint). I tried changing the editing dimensions after it had been recorded and also attempted to change the zoom-n-pan setting but it is still coming up with the black bars. Is there something i need to do pre-recording that will prevent the black bars from coming after upload to the LMS?  Or even better is there a way to remove these bars after recording by changing the format of how it is rendered?

These black bars do now show when playing in mp4 player or in screencast only after uploaded to the LMS.

Since you have already tried adjusting all of your settings in your production, I would suggest looking at your LMS upload options to see if they are set differently than you would have expected.

When I first started working with Camtasia Studio (version 7) I ran into this.  In our case the video camera produces a 1440x1080 video which is a 4:3 aspect ratio.  When we produced a video at 4:3 we got black bars.  When we produced a 1280x720 (16:9) the black bars were gone.  A Techsmith tech helped me with this issue.

At that time the video was being edited and converted to a WMV file because CS7/8/9 can't handle M2T files, even with the wrapper programmer created by another Tech.  The Tech was able to convert the M2T file to 1440x1080 using Handbrake and, I THINK, the black bars went away.

He responded with the following to a follow-up question.

However, one video term that I have seen cause similar behavior, yet I do not have good understanding of its meaning is Anamorphic.

I have seen this cause a video to be seen by one application as a certain resolution, and yet a different application would read the same file as another resolution.

So, like I mentioned, I do not have a good enough understanding of this principal to be able to explain it. However, by adjusting that setting with some videos it seems to have helped. Sorry I do not have a better answer for you! Please let me know if you have any questions.

A summary exists below.  You will need someone who has a greater understanding to help you.  we resolved our issue but that was over three years ago and I slept since then.

Three aspect ratios exist.

Display Aspect Ratio (DAR). This is the ratio of the width to the height of the display frame for the video, the aspect ratio of what we see.

Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR)

Storage Aspect Ratio (SAR) aspect ratio of the stored data which.  SAR is not necessarily an industry standard nomenclature.

If the viewing aspect ratio, the DAR, matches the SAR, then the process of the displaying the stored video is simply a matter of proportionally scaling it to the correct size. For this situation, DAR = SAR. An example of this might be a 16:9 display showing video stored with a frame size of 1280x720 pixels. Both have the same aspect ratio.

In other cases, the video may be stored with an aspect ratio SAR that does not match the display. Here the process of displaying the video involves distorting the stored video ratio SAR to make it match the desired viewing aspect ratio DAR. An example of this might be a 16:9 display showing video stored with a frame size of 720 x 480 pixels. The SAR is 720:480 = 3:2, an aspect ratio which does not match the 16:9 display. The stored video must be stretched horizontally or squeezed vertically to match the display correctly.

The latter situation is often referred to as "anamorphic" video. To correct for it, we introduce the third type of aspect ratio, the Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR). The basic relationship between the three apect ratios is DAR = PAR * SAR.
