Black and White in Snagit 12

Hello,

I find the convert to grayscale option doesn't have the control I would like in Snagit. Converting to grayscale is not the same thing as converting to black in white and doesn't allow me to modify the colours below. I would love the control to lighten or darken specific colours when I convert to black and white, to allow me to have more contrast between two colours that are very close in density. The only way I can do this now, is to move my file over to Photoshop, but this is one step I would rather not have to take. As well, the response of the sliders in Snagit 12 for contrast, sharpness etc. is slow. When I fine tune an adjustment, the results do not appear right away and it is difficult to do fine tuning of my images. Not sure what your thoughts are on these issues.

Hi Cliff,

Thanks for the feedback.

Just for clarification, are you wanting to customize how certain colors translate into a shade of gray, as in Photoshop's Black & White image adjustment dialog?

Hi Conan,

Yes, I am looking how to manipulate the underlying colours so I can have control on the black and white conversion but I want to do this in Snagit. Is this possible so I don't have to leave snagit and go into Photoshop?

Many thanks for your reply,

Cliff

Hi Cliff,

No, this type of thing currently isn't available. While there are a lot of edits you can make within Snagit, you'll still need to use other image editing tools like Photoshop for that level of fine-tuning.
