I need to be blur/muffle/distort portions of an audio clip that contain personal information. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do this in Camtasia for Mac and Windows?

I would just cut it out.  You can leave the other wording where it is, your audio clip will just show as multiple clips.

Thanks India. Because these are small pieces, like a person's name, there will be several throughout the recording. I think it would sound funny if i just cut it out. Appreciate the idea though!

No problem.  I think I have become an expert at cutting out the "uh's" from my recordings, tiny cuts, but easier than re-recording.

I have always simply silenced names to be hidden.  We have a ministry in China and the Middle East so references to China or names of individuals involved and countries are silenced to protect all directly involved.  Watch the lips if you need similar security.

Another vote for just silencing it. This is the standard method, and has been used many times.

If you are worried about it sounding "funny", imagine how funny and distracting a distorted, muffled or blurred sound would be! Totally jarring and confusing.

one workaround for this would be to make a audio clip that offers the distorted sound you like, and put it in the Library

then, pull it down and add on top of existing audio track to cover up/distort what is there?

just make the Library asset long enough to handle any expected case you're likely to run into
