I need to be able to use Bookmarks in Studio 8. This will allow the training presentations I produce as SCORM compliant, to interact properly with the LMS; so that when a presentation is only partially viewed by the user, the LMS will show it as In-Progress, rathen than Complete. It will also allow the user to re-start the presentation from the point he/she left off.

I asked for this ages ago...it needs to be able to record the user's progress and any quiz score and re-load this when the user returns. That way courses do not have do be completed in one go and it protects against a learner's computer crashing etc and having to do the whole thing again!

I'm frustrated that this functionality was not added into Studio 8. This functionality alone may cause me to have to change my content creation software to one that does this. It seems like such a standard feature nowadays; I can't understand why Camtasia hasn't taken care of it.

I know this is a LOOONG time ago, but is there a way to bookmark or another functionality in Camtasia that allows a learner to return to the same spot they left a course as described by Stephen above?

This has been asked for by a lot of people. Is Techsmith going to develop this functionality? I'm surprised this isn't part of the basic functionality.

I am using a trial version of the software with the hope that we could purchase a license and use this software as our SMORM authoring tool. The video capabilities far exceed the video capabilities of Captivate. Unfortunately, without the bookmarking feature, Camtasia isn't a viable option. I have lengthy courses with quiz questions every few minutes. When the learner closes the module and returns later, they are forced to repeat each question because their progress is not saved. They also cannot skip ahead using the timeline because the questions are required. I am very disappointed to learn bookmarking isn't a feature. What's the point in being able to publish to SCORM without bookmarking ?

To update this thread, we just shipped Camtasia 2018.0.6 for Windows this morning with support for SCORM bookmarking.

how does SCORM bookmarking work? I have version 2018.0.7 and I haven't seen any settings related to bookmarking in the SCORM options. I uploaded a SCORM package to my LMS as a test and it didn't seem to work automatically either.

Hi Jonathan,

There is no setting around SCORM bookmarking, it should be supported out of the box.

What you should expect is when you watch a video and say watch 30% of the video and then close the page.  When you go to watch it again, it will remember that you have watched 30% of the video and start the video at the time you left off.  If your video contains a quiz (that does not use our email reporting) then it will also remember what questions you have already answered.

If you are not seeing this can you tell me what LMS / CMS you are using, SCORM version you are publishing with and what web browser you are using.

Thanks,
Ben

Ben, I would like to know more about bookmarking. We uploaded SCORM content with quizzes. It tracks the quiz performance but never marks the content as complete and starts at the beginning even if someone has watched a good portion of the video.

Hi Stephanie,

What LMS are you using?  Also what OS and web browser are you seeing this with?

When you see what you described, have you answered all the questions provided in the video, some or none?

Thanks,
Ben
