Bring back the Snagit Notes output

Snagit Windows used to have an output to the post-it note style floating object on the desktop. This wasn’t used often, so when we switched over to our new output architecture, it wasn’t brought over. But there are some users that used it quite regularly. It could be that not enough people knew about it and it was a discoverability issue. So if you’d like to see this in future versions of Snagit, please upvote. :)

This Idea didn’t get enough votes to be under consideration for a release in the next year or so. Like was mentioned in the original post, it didn’t get a lot of use and was one more thing we had to support when we could put effort into other parts of the app that get more use.

We also wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the options that you can still use. We recognize that they aren’t as fast or efficient:

  1. On Windows 7 and 8, there is an app that Microsoft created called StikyNot. (It was not included in recent versions of Windows 10. It can also be found around the web, but please be careful and make wise choices when downloading). You will have to create a new note and paste your image into a note. But it will work.

  2. There is an app made by another company (use at your own risk) that allows you to put sticky notes on your screen. And accepts images. The new Windows 10 sticky note app does not currently allow images. As above, you will have to create a new note and paste your image into a note.

  3. We have the Program output that can send command line arguments to other apps. This doesn’t work with the apps listed above. But if anyone has a workaround for how the Snagit Program output could work with another sticky notes app, please share. There are definitely a few interested in it.

We are marking this one as Not Planned for the time being. At this point, there are a lot of other things things we’ll be focusing on first. Definitely bring this up again when we do our next round of voting if you still see a need!
