Callout annotation gradient--change direction of fade and unlink the words and vector?

I added a callout annotation with gradient to my video, as I like the way it looks. But when I want to change the direction of the gradient fade. I can't see an option to do that. When I rotate the shape, the gradient remains at the top. I've checked out several tutorials, but none seem to address that issue. I also see the same issue when adding shapes. I saw one option offered was "add filter" on the right-click contextual menu, but I'm never given that option.

Also, how to you unlink the vector and the words?

I am using Camtasia for Mac, Version 2.

Thanks!

Camtasia doesn't have that feature. You might try creating the callout in PowerPoint or Keynote or Photoshop or Illustrator where you have much more flexibility, then exporting as a PNG.

Apparently not much has changed in Camtasia 2018 in regards to the user still not being able to influence any control of gradient direction for a shape with a Fill: Gradient.

Rather oddly, when rotating a shape with a gradient fill, the gradient's direction remains unaffected.

There is apparently no way around this without using other software to create a solution.

That's ridiculous.
