Hi! I'm having trouble using a clip with transparency with Camtasia 2.9.2 . It is a .mov clip with alpha channel. A friend did this edition and he could use it without any problem, but when I open the project it says "media no longer suported, try to convert it"

I did converted it, but it converts transparency into a black solid, so I can use the clip anymore.

Any thoughts? Thanks for you time

I'm not sure about the Mac version, but TechSmith removed the transparent MOV capability in Camtasia 9 because of recent issues with the QuickTime player. Perhaps that's what is happening with your video.

One possible workaround I could think of would involve your friend modifying that video so that the transparent area is now maybe hot pink or whatever odd color. Then when you use it, you could use the "Remove a color" option to make the hot pink (or whatever color was used) into transparent on your end.

Cheers... Rick :)

I think on mac transparency support was added in 2.08.

Do you have a tool like mediainfo? if so can you drop your file on it and see what codec it used?

I've used prores 4444 with success, and can confirm it works on 2.10.8.

If you're friend is exporting from Motion, be sure he selects the option to render "Color + Alpha" on the "render" tab next to "Color"

You can convert the .mov file to an .avi file and export with the transparent Alpha Channel in Adobe After Effects
