Camtasia 2018 is unusable!

I just "upgraded" to the new Camtasia 2018 and it's REALLY not ready for prime time. It's unusable. I have a very fast, brand new iMac with max amount of RAM.

Camtasia 2018 crashes every two minutes and timeline freezes every 2-3 seconds and then whole thing shows "Application not responding..."  

I have to Force Quit just to get my machine back working.

Beware. It needs some bug fixes before any real commercial use. We tried it on 3 machines in our office. All the same issue.

We are going back to C3 until C2018 is ready. Please let us know when it is. So far, it's completely awful.

Hi matt;

This is definitely not the experience we are looking for and is not something we ourselves have run into (and I am unable to duplicate it on my fairly-recent MacBook Pro). Have you opened a support ticket to see what our Techs have to say on the subject?

If you could send up a crash dump the next time it crashes and mention this Get Satisfaction post in the comment section, and also post here again once you've done that, I'll take a look at the crash report and see if we can find out what is going on.  This is the first we've heard of any serious issues, and of course we wouldn't have released this with a known serious issue like this in it.  Let's see if we can get you up and running!

I just purchased the Camtasia 2018 upgrade this morning and am having the exact same issues you report, but my machine is a Windows 8.1 with 32GB of RAM and an SSD. Version 9 was working fine and I now seriously regret the upgrade. All my projects are now on hold until a fix can be found.

Today I tried to render an old project and after two hours it was at 20%. The video is only 8 minutes long. The best of luck Vibe.

Activity monitor shows Camtasia 2018 using 100+% of the CPU when I am editing or scrubbing the video. I have a Late 2014 iMac 5K with 24 GB of RAM. Sure wish I could get it to speed up... The lag time is trying my patience... :)

I would hold off if I were you. Right now, it feels like it's still in beta.

Strange timeline behaviors, slow imports...no noticeable difference in performance on my system. I've had several annoying crashes.

Imported video looks washed out...then, the same footage later on in the timeline has almost too much contrast. I can't figure out what is going on, but I've gone back to Camtasia 9 until they sort this out.

Basically I paid $150 for library folders, 60fps, and a broken timeline.

Opening the program is very slow... then about 25 minutes into a video and its constantly "Not Responding" when I splice a scene... or even when I attempt to press play, it just locks up, with a spinning cursor. Then it may work for a couple minutes, then do the same thing again and again, when I press the play, it plays for a few seconds, then repeats the process. I don't recall having these issues consistently like this in Camtasia 9. Super annoyed!!!

So frustrated!!!  Same issue   crashing every 5 minutes.  Brand new robust Imac!!!  Ahhhh  Tell us when it's fixed please  scott@pmals.net

Please, please open a support ticket if you are having issues with Camtasia 2018. It's the best way for us to troubleshoot the problems you are having.
