userbenchmark.com is a great site, where users test their own computer and we can all see it and compare. I know that this is too much for Techsmith, but I suggest something like it.

I just updated my pc because I make interviews or film lectures about one hour. Not very much animations and fancy stuff, just plain video. I still use CS because I have used it for years AND I have just paid for version 2018.

Some weeks ago I wanted info about: 1) how much more speed do I get, if I buy CPU A, B, C or D etc and the same for amount of RAM and the same for GPU.

I used cgdirector.com/best-computer-for-video-editing/ and cgdirector.com/best-cpu-for-rendering and right now I just found cgdirector.com/best-cpu-gpu-render-benchmarks/

My idea: "Somebody" or some of us make different projects, that are ok to share with each other. Let us say 3-5 different projects, that reflect different editing situations. The projects will be zipped for download.

User 1 downloads all the projects and states rendering time AND his/her hardware. I guess CPU, RAM, GPU and drive is enough, or ? The results are entered in a DB and we can all see the numbers and this way it is a help for all of us, when we want to upgrade - maybe just one or 2 parts of our PC.

PS The same can of course be done for Mac users and ...

Michael, I'm in!  I think there's more data about the users' systems we'd like to know. For example, any A/V and/or A/MW  or other TSRs running while rendering.

I'll get back to you with recommendations soon.
