Unfortunately, Camtasia doesn't support MPEG-4 video files.
That's where you're running into the problem.
If you click on the Windows Explorer menu you will be able to see the media files that Camtasia supports.

You could use a program like Handbrake to convert them to make them compatible with Camtasia.

We have a bug logged for MP4V video failing to decode. A fix has been implemented and tested; it will be included in the next 2018 maintenance release.

Perhaps it's time to update your support article? https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/203728978-Camtasia-Windows-Supported-File-Formats

It indicates the only MPEG-(?) supported format is MPEG-1

I could be misinterpreting something? But michaelvx2008 screenshot seems to indicate he's using a MPEG-4 video encoded with mp4v.

His MPEG audio is decoding which seems correct because MPEG-1 is supported.MPEG-1 would be the original MPEG.Unless I am misunderstanding everything I see?
