Camtasia 2019 doesn't remember the export folder

It's extremely annoying. Why is Camtasia still not able to correctly remember the export folder? I export a video file, select my project folder (why is Camtasia not smart enough to offer the project folder by default?????), type a filename and export. No matter if I cancel the export or wait until it finished and make a new export, all the input fields content is gone and I have to select the folder and re-type the file name each time again.

Why?? Can anybody confirm that?

When can we expect a bugfix?

I'm running the latest version of Camtasia. 2019.0.1

I'm not experiencing the issue in your video. I just ran a couple of tests to confirm it. Camtasia remembers my Projects name.
And the "Last Place" I selected as a destination folder.

Thanks for having a look at it Joe.

I'm also running 2019.0.1 - but the German version - don't know if there might be differences (different settings folders etc.).

The support told me to reset my settings in the Camtasia options when I reported a similar issue half a year ago. This fixed some issues but most of them appeared again in the next project.

Best regards,
Lukas

have you tried doing a custom production to MP4 where you set the export path in the wizard; that usually causes Camtasia [English version] to remember that destination

Indeed if I do a custom production it remembers the folder and adds it to the list. Thanks.

But how does this make sense? If I just use an existing profile of course I want the folder being remembered too. Also there is no "default" folder stored in the export profile XML file. So why should it not remember the folder is a profile is used?

Functionality tops workarounds every time.

kayakmans approach can force Camtasia to remember every setting you chose.
It also saves, video dimensions, audio bit rate, render with or without smart player and any other settings.

However, these custom productions are hard-coded. The settings cannot be altered before you start to render. So, these custom production presets are handy. But  less than ideal at times.

If I were in your shoes, I would attempt a repair install first.
This should restore registry setting to default value and hopefully resolve the problem.
Run it like you're uninstalling Camtasia except select "Change". The screen shot is Camtasia 9, but the procedure is the same for newer versions.

If that doesn't correct it, you could delete the main Camtasia 2019 folder from Registry. That forces Camtasia to regenerate it completely when you restart Camtasia. It's almost as if you've reinstalled Camtasia. You'll get the original start up instructional video playing from TechSmith. All your preferences will  vanish. It's a last ditch  effort to thwart the system. But thats the extent of the harm.

regarding ... "these custom productions are hard-coded"

if I start a new custom production, even though the previous settings have been "remembered", I can change any setting in the wizard before executing the production

I see you can, I never tried going backward to change anything before. I stand corrected.

FYI, I'm seeing weird behaviors on this forum this AM; posts are showing up here out of order it seems [not refereeing to email notifications, which show up much later]; making it hard to answer appropriately

Thanks again Joe and kayakman!

I already tried all these things. It's of course what the support says too. A reset my settings. I uninstalled / repaired Camtasia. And I just deleted my 19.0 folder in the Windows registry again. Still without success:

That's why I'm saying: This is a bug! And it needs to be fixed!! And it's quite annoying to spend so much time into this!!! ;-) And I paid money for the 2019 upgrade because I wanted to support this product and have bugs like these fixed.

I really appreciate your help and workarounds are great. But in this case something is definitely wrong here and the development should take a look at it.
