Hi, I am using Camtasia 2019. I find this Extend Frame feature quite tricky to use. Sometimes, it works and sometimes it doesn't. Although there is room to extend the frame. I even try putting the playhead towards the end-even then Extend Frame is greyed out. Can you help me with this?

I find using extend frame tricky. Thank you Techsmith for fixing the double-cursor problem! At least that works as expected now.

I can usually get extend frame to work by backing off from the end by one frame. My theory is the feature requires the playhead to be positioned between two frames, but I know of no documentation about that. I do know that in preview, the playhead shows the trailing frame. In your screenshot, that would be blank, therefore extending the frame would not work. Hence, you could try using the keyboard back key "<" once to reverse the playhead one frame, to an active one.

I've also forgotten I previously applied extend frame on a clip and using the keyboard Shift-E shortcut does nothing. Right-clicking the clip shows me it's been extended and can be adjusted using the "Duration" selection.

IDEA: It would be nice to have extended sections be a different shade or color to speed up editing workflow.

you cannot extend frame on images, or on groups

like David stated, once extend frame is applied, the extend function, per SE, no longer works there; but the extension acts like an image, and can be grabbed/dragged out/in with the mouse

perhaps some of these tutorials might be helpful ...
