Hi!

Where can find settings for custom size if I want to record a part of the screen with Camtasia 3 for Mac? Maybe I am blindfolded as a long time Camtasia 2 user...

It has not changed that much from 2 to 3.

Camtasia 2:

Camtasia 3:

The work flow after you select that menu option is a little different.  Is that what is tripping you up?

It wasn't really that easy as you can see from the two screen shots. (by the way never been able to take screenshots of Camtasia. ) The window in version 2 stays visible all the time while you have to hunt for the command in 3 . And, It does not stay you must activate it every time. Camtasia2 was far more usable as setup for this in version 3. Its rare that I need a Video of an entire screen I prefer to choose the the desired item I wish to make a video.  to make a full screen video is usually useless. I can get use to the hidden feature But It should remain to allow for custom sizing all the time.

I agree. While Cam is a better overall software. Wondeshare is a hundred times more direct for recording part of a screen. You can literally drag anywhere on the screen and to whatever custom size you need. The interface will disappear and allowed you to drag out the size that is needed.

Not really sure what the problem is, recording just a small part of the screen? Seems to work just fine! THIS IS ME POUNDING HARD ON THE KEYBOARD!!! MAYBE you can hear that on the recording below...

To me it was that easy when I knew it. As always.  It ́s just another way to the same. I am still a little bit unused with the new GUI in 3.0, the same when I started with version 2. I use custom size a  lot, but full screen is very useful when you need to scale up and down in post. And I really like the new GUI. Great software, worth every cent.

I have no objection to new Feature and  GUI it just the record part of screen command has to set every time you create a video.  Two would allow it 3 doesn't.  3 you have set it every time.

I am not sure what you mean.  If you hit the "Start Recording" button, it should record the exact same region it recorded the previous time.  You do not need to select a new region every time.

What I am talking about, is in Camtasia two you could set only to create a video of part of the screen, and it would stay set even through the quitting of the application until you set differently.

In Camtasia three you go to the new location and set to capture the partial screen use it. If you then quit the application, the partial screen setting is lost and has to be looked up again,  and set again. Even if you shut down for a second, and then remember you need to do another video, and reopen the application, to do a new video.  Since I rarely if ever do full-screen video, This is an inconvenience. Unless when installed something happened to the preference file, and the preference is supposed to stick. The version three may have a bug.

It should remember what your last recording was.  That is how it behaves for me.  I am not sure why it would behave differently for you, but if you open up a ticket at https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us we might be able to track down what the problem is.

Note, it remembers what region you last recorded.  If you just select a region, and quit the app without making a recording, it will not remember that.

I understand if you don't record anything then it won't save setting.   May have wait a while to work on this my mother just passed away and I a lot of paperwork to clear up.  I will  put in a Ticket.
