Camtasia 8 upgrade Locked Trial Watermark

I own Camtasia 8 and have loved it for years. Recently upon huge projects at higher speeds Camtasia 8 preview window was choppy. I was told to try the project on Camtasia 9 to see if that would fix it. It helped but not by much, i converted my file to nine and finished it. But guess what NOW I CANT GO BACK TO 8 TO RENDER THE VIDEO. Why does the trial lock to watermark, no other version of cam has ever done this. Why is there not a HUGE warning when you open 9 saying "HEY NEW THING YOU CANT RENDER WITHOUT A WATERMARK IN A TRIAL  NOW"

So what are my options besides buying 9? I'm not a huge fan of being extorted for money. Why wouldn't you make it where if i log into an account that owns the previous version it allows me to render without a water mark. Not exactly a trial if i cant finish now is it. If ever there was motivation to sit down and learn Adobe premiere it is this.

Hi Mitchel,

I think you might be referring to this thread where I (and another user) suggested that you try working with the trial.  I guess it wasn't clear from your original thread that you were having an issue with a specific file, just lag with the preview pane. But, I can also see how you'd be upset by how this played out.

What kayakman said is true, when you import an old project into Camtasia 9 we tell you that we will make a copy of the original project. That copy should be in the same location as your initial project, so you can continue working in Camtasia 8 where you left off before you converted into the new version. Otherwise, if you want to produce a final copy with Camtasia 9, you'll have to purchase.

We added the watermarking because the trial was never to be used for final productions; it's an evaluation of the software. This has always been in the Camtasia EULA. What we discovered is that people were using the trial in violation of the terms of our EULA and the watermark was added as a method of enforcement. The download page for the trial says, "Content will be created with watermark during the trial period, " and we notify you before you produce.

Sorry for any confusion,
