Camtasia 9.0.1 (Windows): Cannot Stop Voice Narration Once It Is Started

I was able to start and then stop the Voice Narration for my test project.  Now, I have 12+ hours video.  And it takes like 1+ minutes for the audio waveform to re-appear for each cut via Ctrl+X after 6+ hours into my video editing.

So, I looked for an alternative to get better audio for the second half of my video.  Voice Narration seems to be the right idea even though I accept to re-record my audio once again.  Unfortunately, on my real project, when Voice Narration is started, it cannot be stopped.  It kept going and going until I terminated the entire Camtasia Studio 9.0.1.

Please advise how to recover the stop capability for the Voice Narration.

Thanks very much in advance.

I would suggest reinstalling Camtasia or do a Repair install by right Clicking the Setup file and run as Administrator and select Repair first.

If that does not solve the issue do a complete uninstall and then reinstall.

If that does not work then put in a Support Ticket at  TechSmith.

Thanks rlinternational2 ( Bob ) for the suggestion.  That sounds like a correct path to follow.

But, I took an extra step to re-open my test project and tried the Voice Narration again.  I found that the Voice Narration continued to work correctly in the small test project.

So, it is something in the big 12+ hour project that confuses Camtasia.

I really hope the anonymous data TechSmith collects in Camtasia is enough to fix this problem for us all in the community.

--------------

Update:

At last, I did a Repair Install.  But the Voice Narration still did not work on my big project.

Then, I did a Complete uninstall / Re-install as per your suggestion.  The Voice Narration still did not work either.

Next, I will file a support ticket at TechSmith.

Thanks again, Bob.

Just a comment on this - my project is less than 12 minutes so that's definitely not the primary criteria (I would say)... I feel like the voice narration doesn't really work at all actually.

I have this exact same issue.... wtf?? If you start the voice narration for a small clip, the Stop and Cancel buttons do NOT WORK. Is this a known issue?

I'm having the same problem. Did they respond to your ticket with any kind of fix? Are there other methods for recording over the timeline with changes in narration?

Hi Jan;

There could be a number of factors coming into play; drivers, conflicting hardware or software, resource issues, installation corruption, or any number of different things. I would recommend opening a support ticket to see if one of our Techs can pinpoint the issue for you.

Hi Nadia;

Like I mentioned to Jan above, you might want to open a support ticket as there are many potential causes for this behavior. Have you reached out to them yet?

My workaround is to close Camtasia by clicking the X when I am done recording. I then save the voice narration and when the prompt comes up to save before exiting I choose Cancel. This prevents Camtasia from closing and I can continue on.

That said, this is something techsmith needs to fix.

Interestingly I just ran into this problem as well, but noted there was an update to v9.0.4 available, so I installed the update, and the problem as stopped occurring.  Try installing the latest update to see if that works for you as well.
Thanks for posting the work-around bruce8744, as I was about to use that to get my project done.  :)

Hate to be the debbiedowner here, yet the runaway voice narration is still a problem in 9.05 :-(
