Camtasia 9.12 update disappointed

Important features still missing with the 9.12 release.  Still no silence button and still no arrows at the bottom of the slider bar. These were features the programmers removed from the previous version of Camtasia 8.  Bring them back.  Still having the stupid fade feature when I remove parts of the sound track.  How long do we have to wait for the good stuff to be put back?

Camtasia is a nice user-friendly program but it is exasperating how the developers are tone-deaf and insensitive to requests for basic features such as:
-- ability to play videos in reverse
-- add light to dark scenes
-- ability to import .mov files with transparency (what an incredible annoyance having to go to other programs for this). That need to encode in this or that is a burden and total annoyance.
-- everything you mention

First of all, I'm sorry to hear the frustration.  We receive hundreds (literally) of feature requests.  That's a blessing and a curse.  We're humbled by the fact that so many people have shared their Camtasia wish list with us.  Simultaneously, we're burdened by having to choose which requests we will spend time to design, implement, test, and release.  All I can promise is that we're here, we're listening, and we'll do our best to turn some of those requests around to make the product better.

With that said, there are some things you've mentioned that are already in version 9.x.
- The silence button on the Audio tab in v8.x is replaced with the Shift+S hotkey in v9.x.  You can make a range selection with the red/green playhead ends and then use Shift+S to silence that section of audio.
- Version 9.0.4 added support for media with PNG codec to allow MOV files with transparency.  We know that this doesn't cover all the formats out there with transparency, but it's one format we do support.  Supporting new formats is a complex mix of containers, codecs, and sometimes, royalties to the patent holders.
- Version 9.x added a Color Adjustment Visual Effect.  Adding this effect to a visual media gives you sliders to adjust brightness, saturation, and contrast, which are found in the properties panel when that media is selected on the timeline.

I didn't understand Diana's reference to "arrows at the bottom of the slider bar".  Are you referring to version 8.x?  A screenshot with some more detail would help us to understand what you're missing in your workflow.  I also didn't get the reference to "the stupid fade feature when I remove parts of the sound track."  If you could provide a little more context, we may be able to help.

The request for reverse video is duly noted.  That would be fun to work on.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback.  We do appreciate you taking the time to share your pain points with us.  It helps us make the product better in the long run.  So thanks, and please keep it coming!

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply.  Having a silence button and having to use 2 keys instead of one click is going backwards. I have to take my eyes off the screen, find the keys and click on them. This is much slower compared to Cam 8.
Audio fades without me wanting it to when I cut a section of audio.  This is totally frustrating. Please stop this dumb habit. Every one that is faded by Camtasia  I have to readjust back to 100%.  Please give us a way to type in the % for the audio, currently I have to drag a line and it is a challenging thing to get it back to 100% exactly or stop the fading.
I need the arrows put back at either ends of the horizontal scroll.  None of the new work arounds are as good as Camtasia 8 for moving. It now takes me longer to edit than it did in Camtasia 8. This was discussed by me quite some time ago and it was a decision that TechSmith made to remove the arrows. I keep hoping that with each update they will come back.
