Camtasia 9 Audio Waveform Takes Longer and Longer to Re-appear after Cutting during Editing

Hello.

I am using Camtasia 9 for Windows.

After 6 hours into my 12+ hours video, the audio waveform began to take like 1 minute before reappearing  for each time I cut the audio and video tracks.  My contents have a mix of PowerPoint and Camtasia recordings.  And I have had 100+ cuts of the two tracks during those 6 hours.

Is there a way to get the audio waveform reappear instantly like it was in the beginning of my video?

Thanks much in advance for your kind help.

Yes, this happens on my system, too. I have a Core i7 Desktop computer with 16GB RAM and a rather capable graphics card. Edits in the timeline make the waveform disappear. Camtasia then takes more than 30 seconds to show it again.

sounds like the project has been edited to excessive complexity, so simplify things ...

disable all but the track with audio

produce as WAV [export audio] or AVI [if video present in the clip]

substitute the new WAV/AVI for the original track

that should fix the issue

Thanks very much for your input. However, I am pretty sure it does not apply in my case.

Let me count the edits I have done to the 1h7min project:

- there are THREE cuts throughout the entire timeline
- there is ONE annotation box
- there is ONE maximize/minimize callout

To me, this comes nowhere near "excessive". The project has two streams, though (1x 1920x1080Screen, 1x 800x600 Webcam), but I would not expect this to impact the audio rendering by that much.

you're right, edits do not seem to be the cause here; sorry my guess was not helpful

unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue on my i5 Win 10 laptop 8 GB RAM system

I assume the clips on timeline are a Recorder capture [screen and web cam]?

I work with those dimensions a lot without issues

if not, please advise

@kayakman: you were actually super-helpful. I just tried to reproduce the error and couldn't. With the same project, the audio waveform now appears and updates instantaneously.

The only thing I did differently this time is that I hat re-openend the project. When the problem first occurred, it was the initial edit right after creating the project.

This seems to be a bug. Camtasia appears to re-render the waveform after every edit when edits are done to a freshly created project. Hence, simple workaround:

(1) create project and add all media
(2) drop media onto the timeline
(3) save and close
(4) reopen

Tutoren Methodenlehre,
I'm glad you worked it out as well. However, that was an unusual problem that was not actually corrected. It simply went away when you re-booted the project.

If it happens again I would contact tech support.

Tech Support cannot correct bugs if they don't know they exist.
