Would like ability to change the interface to the lighter colors in previous versions of Camtasia. I find it very heard to work with the dark interface in Camtasia 9.

Hi Thomas,

You need to change the project settings. Select File - Project Settings, this is where you can change the color of the background.

I believe that only changes the canvas color. It won't change the overall UI.

I'd like to see this option on the Camtasia 3 (Mac) version, too.

Presently what you see is what you have. Unless TechSmith issues some update that allows us to change it. ;)

It would be nice to have the light interface like what they have in SnagIt

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month (this month is slightly different, due to the holidays) where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

-Robert

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Suggestion - Let users select the colors of the interface -- especially the canva....

The dark gray background color of Camtasia 9 is generally nice.  However the area around the Canvas should be able to be modified by the user.  I am editing a Camtasia project which has a lot of back and dark grey background from the site I was recording.  It is very hard to see where the video ends and the Camtasia Canvas starts. If I were able to change the color of the canvas area this would make my editing much easier.

Also in general, today's multimedia programs the issue of accessibility is important -- for vision impaired people and people who just prefer to change the appearance of their graphics program's interface.  For example, Adobe Premiere lets you easily change the color of the UI.  Camtasia should add this function.  Thanks, Rowby

When you "Vote here". Be sure to vote on the upper right of this page. If you are not logged into your account you will be prompted to do so. Even though my comment request is on this page -- it's not enough. You must also vote along with your comment. (Whew!). ...Rowby.

One additional comment. Government and educational institutions are usually required to use software and websites that are easy for people with handicaps to use.

There may be instances where Camtasia will not be purchased by a university or a government because of its limited UI. So it just makes business sense to offer this feature.

In addition, being human beings, we should be considerate of other people who have vision problems. For this reason alone Camtasia needs to fix this quickly, and not base it its implementation on the number of votes. My vision is fine but I am always considerate of other people who have vision problems
