Camtasia 9 feedback / concerns

Robert,

All of this is interesting, but how about a post that reads something like this:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone.   We here at TechSmith understand that Camtasia 9 has an enormous number of bugs, glitches, and modifications that our customer base has with this new, and insufficiently tested and vetted  product.  We hear you are read all of your posts.

Some of the bugs and performance problems in Camtasia 9 are easy to address while others take a great deal of time to diagnose, re-code, and in some cases, rebuild from the ground up.  But rest assured that we are looking at everything that you tell us about.

To ensure that we understand and are trying to address all of the issues you brought up since the release of Camtasia 9, I am presenting here a list of the issues that we are working on at this moment and the order in which we hope to have them resolved:

1. The impossible-to-read black background.  Our staff is working feverishly to correct this issue which tops the list of problems that you presented to us and which seems to be adversely affecting the most customers.

2. The fact that you cannot produce an MP3 file in Camtasia 9.  This is not, in reality, a bug, but a design and programming choice that we had to make.  The reasons for this are...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Such an email would be a refreshing change from the useless summary that you periodically send out such as this email which tells us NOTHING other than to tell us the various problems and issues that others have reported to you over the last 30 days.

I think that TechSmith is losing its audience and customer base as it appears that may Camtasia 9 owners, such as myself, have turned away from Camtasia 9, who are continuing to use the much better Camtasia 8.6, and are exploring other products such as the Corel Video Studio X10 suite of products which contains a module which allows the user to record the screen and then edit the resulting screen capture.

Show us that you are working on these problems TechSmith, possibly with a FREE webinar that your quickly fading customer base may attend.

This is an excellent idea. The changes in GUI needs a second look, and possibly at least two options. A different background and colourscheme for those of us that has passed 40, and fixes to regain list screen real estate. The other issue seems to be related to 64 bit architecture, and will probably take time to stabilize. We need for you to tell us what is happening. Based on our own experiences, moving some of our own applications to 64 bit, there will be need for several iterations before you are back to the level if performance and stability we saw in version 8. As long as we know that you are making this pri one, it is ok to wait, using known workarounds meanwhile

Hi Erik and thanks for stopping by with your comments.

I know this is a bit of a non-answer, but I can say that I am currently working with the product team leads to get some additional responses out to the Community regarding a few of these concerns. Rest assured that each of these pieces of feedback do get to the appropriate team members and we are currently working on some official responses; when they will come, unfortunately I cannot say, but I can say that we'll have something posted as soon as we are able.

Thanks again

Robert,

I will be available for contact by phone only today.  Or you can send me a private email giving me the phone number you rant me to use to call you and a good time to call.  I have some serious anti-telemarketing hardware connected to my phone system and I am concerned that your call might be blocked if you try calling me on a business number.  For example, I am blocking all phone calls that come from any number in this series: 800-000-0000 up to and including 899-999-9999.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Tim;

At 10:30 AM EST I sent an email to the address you used to sign up for the Community Forums at and am waiting to see a response to that email. In the spirit of complete honesty today will not be a viable option as I will require some time to gather all employees that will best be able to speak with you regarding your concerns. For the time being I would like to take this conversation "off air" and via email (I would recommend checking your spam / junk filters for my email).

Kind regards,

-Robert

Robert,

I did not see that email and I checked my SPAM folder.  Your message might have been blocked by the SPAM detector at Verizon.

I understand that you want to assemble the right people and schedule the right time.  I will be available all next week with the exception of Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon.

You can send me email directly at tim.frost@mrpatience.com (my web site email) and we won't have to worry about any SPAM filters there.

Have a nice week (I'm sure that you guys are VERY busy) and we can talk next week.
