Camtasia 9 How to Outline Text?

I remember (hopefully not falsely) in Camtasia Studio 8 you were able to outline text (not the text box, the text itself). I'm trying to do this at the moment in Camtasia 9 but the only thing I can do is add an effect that outlines the text box. I'm wondering if the text outline is actually still a thing or not.

Are you a SnagIt user? If so, is it possible you are maybe confusing SnagIt 13's new feature for text with an outline?

Hello harry.rieger Unfortunately,
There isn't a feature to outline text. Yes, you can add a drop shadow and it helps. But your better off creating a title as a png with transparency in another program. Then importing it into your project. But that's a lot of back and forth.

You could use a callout and drop the opacity of the fill. That way the text stands out enough to read it clearly and you can still see whats behind it.Plus, you can stay in Camtasia.

Regards,Joe

I was able to achieve a respectable text outline using drop shadow.  Depends on what you're doing, how big your text is, what the background is.

Here are the settings I used.  It's ever so slightly blurry because I used a blur of 2. but 1 does work.

I finally figured it out! It is a long process and would only recommend it for something that you might save as a template. First, type what you want and then add the settings shown in the first photo to it. The bigger your letters, usually the bigger the offset. And make sure you keep the blur, it helps to buff the edges later. Next, copy paste the text and align them so you have 8 of them.  Next, in the angle adjustment section, you should see 9 boxes to adjust the angle of the drop shadow. Use this to face the drop shadow of all 8 annotations in every direction except for center. Finally, group the 8 annotations to make them easy to manage. Hope this helps!
