Camtasia 9 - MP4 Video Size

I'm producing videos with Cam9 and getting HUGE mp4 files. I found a post online about adjusting audio compression, but can't find any settings in Camtasia to adjust the settings. All I get is the option to Encode the Audio and change the bit rate.

Further... I am using a source MP4 file converted from a Webex recording. All I did was trim the size, then add a title screen (with two fades). The file size went from 27mb to 140mb, using the default MP4 Only (up to e720p) setting.

Would it help to get a third-party MP4 compression utility (i.e. FAASoft) to compress the file post-production??

Your audio makes almost no difference in overall file size.  Here are the basic settings for great mp4 encoding.  mp4 / H.264-AVC codecs / bitrate: 3500 / Aspect ratio: 1280 x 720 (720P) or 1920 x 1080 (1080p) / Framerate: 24,29.97, 30  No 59.94 or 60FPS.  If you want a 3rd party converter for free...get Handbrake

Look at your video settings (bitrate or quality).  Try bitrate of 4500 or 5000, or, quality of 50% or less.  It sounds as if the settings were pretty high.

After testing, you can adjust the settings to find the best quality vs file size for your needs.

How does one change these settings in Camtasia?

Select "Share" at top. Then select Custom from the drop-down.
Then Next and Next and you can see where all the setting are for the above.
