Camtasia 9 Music Library License

Hi! I have a full license for Camtasia 9. I use a Mac. I want to know what restrictions there are on using music found here (https://library.techsmith.com/) for commercial purposes (for example, I'd like to use one of the tracks there as background music in a YouTube video advertising a product).

There are previous posts about this but all that I've found relate to previous versions of the software. Additionally, all I could find in the Camtasia 9 EULA was a section on "Shutterstock Content" - the very last part of the EULA. Contrary to what other posts here suggest, that says this content cannot be used "in connection with merchandise or promotional items for sale or distribution".

The library page I linked to above says nothing about Shutterstock so I'm not sure that section of the EULA is referring to this content at all.

Could someone please clarify this for me? Thanks!

You may use those items for commercial purposes, however you may not resell the assets themselves.

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you point me to the relevant wording in the license too? And let me know if the content I linked to above is the Shutterstock content mentioned in the eula? Thank you

See section 2A of the shutterstock addendum; (this music is indeed shutterstock content).
Bottom line though, is the merchandise thing was in reference to doing things like taking an image and then printing it on a T-Shirt (say) and selling that. That's a nono. But using this stuff in a project where you sell the video is totally appropriate.

We're working on an explicit EULA for the online asset library, but it's not out yet, so for now this content is covered under the Camtasia EULA.

I have looked at this thread and I'm left with the following question.

What was asked:

I want to know what restrictions there are on using music found here (https://library.techsmith.com/) for commercial purposes (for example, I'd like to use one of the tracks there as background music in a YouTube video advertising a product).

The clarification (which I've not seen) is to ask dadams if you are simply using the music as background for a video that was not created using Camtasia. I think we are all assuming at this point that you ARE using Camtasia, and certainly TechSmith grants a license for that. But if you are using another tool that isn't Camtasia for creating the video, my guess is that would be outside the scope of the license.

Perhaps that's what Paul meant by using the artwork and T-Shirt as the example?

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks Paul and Rick. And sorry, yes, I should have clarified - the video was made in Camtasia (with some vector art thrown in there too - which does raise a question about how much of the video has to be created in Camtasia but that's a story for another thread, I think). Cheers for the help.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable using your stock content with the dedicated EULA in place so look forward to that. Thanks guys!
