Camtasia 9: No sound output

Camtasia 9, Windows 10, Wireless USB headset.

The program worked fine, but after unplugging and replugging the headset, I don't hear anything anymore. The headset is configured as the default output device on Windows, and I can hear system sounds and Youtube videos. I conclude that this is neither a hardware nor a system problem.

The audio track in Camtasia obviously contains sound, but when playing it back all I get is silence.

Restarting Camtasia doesn't fix the problem. I have not yet rebooted Windows.

I can set sound input in Camtasia. Is there any setting that convinces Camtasia to output to my headset?

UPDATE: The same happens on an other computer, and rebooting doesn't help. It seems that the problem sometimes goes away when I unplug and replug the headset, but I haven't found out what are the precise conditions that restore the sound. It seems very random.

It turns out that Camtasia was muted in the Windows sound mixer. No idea how that happened; I certainly didn't mute it, but some component of Windows or perhaps Camtasia itself obviously thought it was a good idea to protect my ears from Camtasia.

So, problem solved, but an aftertaste remains.
