Camtasia 9 Recorder Not Opening.

Hi guys,

I just installed camtasia 9 and am eager to get started. Everything seems to work fine except the most essential part, which is the recorder.

When I click record it doesn't open, when I open it from the desktop it doesn't work nor does it work when I try to open it from the start menu. The shortcut (ctrl + R) also doesn't work, nor does the 'File -> Start Recording' option.

I've tried running as administrator, running it in different compatibility modes but none of it has worked so far. I am on windows 10.

Anyone know what I can do?

I'm filing a support ticket as well.

Thanks :D!

It was not working because of this fault (in the Event Viewer) of Windows 10.
Faulting application name: CamRecorder.exe, version: 9.0.0.1306, time stamp: 0x57dc5f8c
Faulting module name: vorbis.acm, version: 0.0.3.6, time stamp: 0x50a51541
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vorbis.acm

Solution:
I renamed that file (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vorbis.acm) and it is working now. I do not know what this file is for and what will happen if it is renamed. I will wait for the support team to come back to me with an answer for my ticket. However I am posting this, as it may help you too. Thx.

Yo sampathd -- you pinpointed the EXACT same file that TechSmith's support team identified when I filed a support ticket this morning.

Have not attempted the rename yet, but it's very exciting to hear that it (1) is aligned with what the pros said and (2) worked for you.

Thanks!
Dan

Need help, my Windows 10 does not have the vorbis.acm file. I looked in WINDOWS\SYSTEM32. Camtasia was working fine for me until this recent past month it won't record anymore, just a black screen that is 1 second long. Today for some reason it records the audio but no the screen, the screen is still coming out black and only 1 second long. The audio however is recording, very strange. I have Camtasia 9. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing works.

This is the MOST frustrating software I have ever used.

I download all of Adobe's product.  Never, ever have a problem. Not one.
