Camtasia 9: screen flashes between 2 clips - transition not smooth

For some reason my new Camtasia 9 started to make flashes between seperate clips. When I installed it I did manage to make good clips. It started doing this out of the blue.

There is a black spot in every screen recording I make. I reinstalled Camtasia 9 to no avail...

what type of transitions are you using?

are the transitions applied between groups?

does the issue persist after producing?

can you post a full screen view screen shot of project on timeline at at a timeline location where a flash occurres, with timeline at max zoom in [ctl-shift-9]

Thank you for your reply. In every screen recording there is a short black spot inserted, so then you will see a very short flash. It has nothing to do with the Camtasia transitions, there is just a black spot in every recording I make. I have inserted a full screen image now and moved it to where the black spot starts in the recording...And yes it persists after producing.

The blank "Or Black?" footage is an anomaly.

The black may be  just the canvas area which is black by default.
Making what appears to be black in the video nothing more than a lack of video information in the footage. This is also just an opinion on my part.

The real issue is the recording glitch you are encountering. I suspect that it's a recent Windows update or possibly Graphics driver update that is creating the anomaly.

Tech support is better suited to solve this for you than me. I would  open a ticket or contact them directly on Monday when they are back at work.

When you get it resolved it would be great if you post the soultion. Others may benefit from that information down the road.

Thank you Joe. I also have the feeling it has to do with some recent update, as it worked fine in the beginning. Upon opening existing projects I also get error messages from Camtasia, telling me there are files missing, but when the project opens, the files are right there! I opened a ticket, and will keep you posted. As a work-around I can use the Camtasia 8 screen recorder and import the clips in Camtasia 9: works fine!

on my system, for every trec capture made with Camtasia Recorder 9, the 3rd frame recorded is always black

I logged this as a bug several weeks ago and it was confirmed

tech support suspected something to do with hardware acceleration [if I recall correctly]

we made a registry change that correct that issue, but which also caused slower Recorder performance

I've change the registry back to its original value, and just live with the glitch

my easy fix is simply to navigate to the black frame and delete it

Thanks kayakman,

That's a glitch I can confirm as well. For me it's consistently the 3td and 4td frame that has no Video information

Although, I've never ran into it because of my workflow.
I never save the first second or more of a screen recording.  I had no idea that this problem even existed.

Hi Everyone;

Regarding the black frame; this is something that we are aware of and are looking into, however there is a fix. While the following support article is not covering this exact same topic, the fix for the issue is the same. You can find the fix at: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/215138598

Hope this helps.

I am having this problem, too, with some of the transitions, but not all. The Fade transitions look correct in Camtasia 9, but after I produce it, the transitions are jerky. I double-checked the transitions to see if "Use trimmed content in transition" was marked, and it's not. I checked twice before I produced the video, and the transitions are not working. I should mention, the video was originally created in version 8, and I converted it to 9.
