Camtasia - added highlight to cursor and it's stuck in one place

I added highlight to cursor and the mouse has
become a hand - with highlight around it - and
it just sits on one spot - while I watch links and
tabs being clicked on the screen???

how do I get the cursor to move where it's supposed
to be?

i've done several other videos with the cursor
highlighted and it worked perfectly.  what did I
do wrong?

thanks

can you reproduce the issue?

if so, could you make a short screencast, hosted on Screencast.com, that demonstrates what you are seeing, and share that link here?

Another question is to ask if the cursor works fine until you apply the highlight or if it is also frozen before highlighting. And if it's fine before applying highlighting, does removing the highlighting restore the desired behavior (albeit without highlighting)?

I cannot reproduce the issue.

the tutorial was shot in a number of different segments -
joined together in one tutorial.

the cursor / highlight worked fine for the front / first part
and the last part.

when I turned the cursor/highlight off, my cursor disappeared

OK... just did a new tutorial - this one was all in one shot

not quite 5 minutes into what will probably be about a 12
minute tutorial, the mouse is frozen in place again - doesn't
unfreeze for the rest of the tutorial ;(

I am not familiar with screencast - how do I use this?

thank you for your help

I really appreciate your help, Kayakman...

produced/shared - here's the link:  http://www.screencast.com/t/UAGZemAL

the cursor freezes/stops moving about 30 seconds in and didn't move for
the rest of the tutorial - about 18 minutes total record time.

thanks

Karen, thanks for sharing the screencast

Rick's suggestion is a good one

I assume that you set the cursor properties [after capture] using the cursor effects UI in the editor?

what version of Camtasia Studio are you using?

if you set the effects in the editor, as a quick test, in Recorder, set the capture file type to "AVI", and see if the cursor then will work OK [not freeze] in a new capture?

for another test, with the original trec capture, remove the highlight effect, then produce again; does that work [no freeze]?

it is possible that there may be some issue between the app you are capturing [WordPress?], and Camtasia

I just started using the cursor effects about a week ago.

(I've made about 100 tutorial videos)

Using the most current Camtasia version

yes, the cursor effects was added during editing process.

I do not understand this suggestion:

"if you set the effects in the editor, as a quick test, in Recorder, set the capture file type to "AVI", and see if the cursor then will work OK [not freeze] in a new capture?"

I've not had any issues with the mouse disappearing
or freezing in place (before adding cursor effects) and
i've been recording tutorials for about a year.

Camtasia was recently updated and there were a number
of issues that tech support helped me to fix... so, this may
be another of them.

I really appreciate your help and input.

re the quick test ...

you can configure Recorder to capture using AVI file type instead of the default trec file type; this setting can be made in Recorder Tools/Options/General tab

when AVI is used, cursor effects are set in Recorder [Effects/Cursor], and the Cursor Effects within the editor are not available, because the cursor is "burned in" when the AVI file type is being used

I was just wondering if the trec file type might be involved?

what Camtasia updates were involved [if you recall]?

you might also try uninstalling Camtasia, restarting the PC, then reinstalling Camtasia, to see if that fixes things?
