Camtasia does not record audio

Windows 10 Pro machine with latest Camtasia. I have a Clarett 4Pre USB for audio. With a microphone connected to the Clarett, I can record audio from that microphone just fine in Adobe Audition. But when I try to record audio (along with the computer screen) in Camtasia, I get the message: "A problem with your audio device will not allow the recording to start". Can anyone suggest how to resolve this issue?

Does Windows (control panel, sound) see your mic?

Yes it does. And I can record that mic in two other apps (Adobe Audition and Cubase). But not with Camtasia.

Here's my "Strictly a guess" thought.
I know nothing about a Clarett 4Pre USB for audio device.
Other than what I saw on their website. It seems to support 24bit 196,000 kHz.

I don't know how much control you have over output settings if any? I recorded my voice at 24 bit 196,000 kHz in Adobe audition.I was able import and play it in Camtasia 2019. So, no compatibility issues there.

However, when I went into the recorders tool options. I had to set to record to AVI to get into audio options.
Heres where my guess come in. There are no setting choices above 48,000kHz ,and only 8 or 16 bit for settings.

Which may explain why Audition can and Cubase can use the input.

If thats what's happening, I would think you can go into Windows settings and set the microphone to no higher than 48,000 16 bit. And then, the recorder should be able to record it?

That's my GUESS?
