Camtasia Error: It is either an unsupported media type or required codecs are not found.

I am on a windows using Camtasia 2020. I did my first recorded training on Camtasia as I am a new user. After I stopped the recording I got this message " it is either an unsupported media type or required codecs are not found"  I was never able to preview or save my recording.  How do I prevent this in the future from happening.

I suggest you contact support, obviously this shouldn't happen under normal circumstances.
I haven't made a lot of recordings with Camtasia 2020, but I've never received that error.
Come to think of it, I've been using Camtasia for a very long time. I may have gotten that error once in the editor? I'm not even sure about that.

Try some test recordings, it may have been a one off glitch? Being Friday and 2020 was just released, it will take a while to get a response.

Download and installed two free applications:
"Handbrake" (https://handbrake.fr/) and
"VLC Media Player" (https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html)

Between the two, you get 99% of all possible codecs and should never see that error again.

This seems to be a Camtasia recording error, the codecs are provided by TechSmith.
