Camtasia Features needed

We need a couple of features back that we use to have.  I have Camtaisa 2019, 2018 and version 8.  I create scrom packages.  I have to use 8 for my final scorming because of the controller we use.  We use the silver one and that does not exist in 2019.  Also the controller in 2019 is so big. Version 8 had a nice slim one.

Also a nice thing to add back in would be "using the D" key for deleting a video clip that was just created if I want to delete it right away.  In version 8, to stop recording, we hit the F10 Key, than followed by typing the "D" key and then the "Y" key.  This deletes the newly created recording in a very quick fashion.  Then pressing F9 put me right back into recording, very nice process.

I believe in 2018, we able to rename the trecs from with in the clip bin.  I can't do that in 2019.  We need to name the trec so we can easily associate it with the project and keep them in a certain order in a certain folder.

Plus we have no control where where the trec will be saved.  I called tech support and this and I was told how to set that option up but it doesn't work.  Right now the folder that contains all the Trec is getting very large.  I don't know which ones I don't need anymore.  I can't delete them in fear that I might delete one that I have lost track of.

Your first topic. I agree on the controller options.
IMO Camtasia 2019 is the worst version ever. Camtasia 9 to me is the most stable and reliable version.
If I need to know my recording is going to work I jump to version 9.

Second topic.
All the shortcut keys work for me.
I F10 to stop the recorder.
When the preview window pops up I hit D and then Y
I'm back to recorder again and F9 to start recording.
Is the D key maybe assigned to something else? In another program?

Third topic.
Yep. No renaming the .trec in the clip bin.
You would have to rename it in the folder. That's what I have done.

Saving to your selected folder should be easy.
When I stop the recording in the preview clicking the Save and Edit button or clicking the down arrow under that button or clicking the Produce button I am presented with the Save As window.
That's how I have it set up.

You can set how the .trecs are saved and where in the recorders Tools>Options
Under the General tab click File options.

Ask for file name will pop up the Save As window so you can name and chose the folder/location you want.

Fixed or Automatic will activate the Output folder option that you can then chose where to save the .trecs.

As far as the .trec files you have building up, you can view them using either
Potplayer media player  ( my default player) or

VLC media player

Both are free and can player pretty much anything you throw at them.

Just drag and drop your .trec on to them and it will play.

You can then review and cleanup your .trec folder(s)

Great Thanks for the info.  I have contact tech support a few times before on this and was never guided to that spot.  A comment on the video, it was hard to see that the person recording accesses the tools section of the "recorder".  That part took me a bit of time to figure out that part from the video.  That part of the video is a bit hidden.

thanks for the video feedback; looks like the closed captions panel covered that part of the screen, so you couldn't see the Recorder UI; easy fix is to turn off captions

but I'll  see if I can better fix that
