Camtasia file showing dark and weird scaling

I've been using Camtasia for years, so this is a new one for me.  I recorded 6 videos from a workshop where I was using PowerPoint on my Macbook.  The first 3 videos behaved normally when editing and exporting.

The 4th video, when I pulled it up, had default scaling set to 0.1% and the opacity = 0. When I scaled the video to 90% and opacity to 100%, the video is very dark. The raw file shows bright pages, as was the other videos.  How can I fix this so I can edit and export them?

This is how the video looks but as you can see, the thumbnail is bright.

That is really weird. I only can think of a couple of suggestions:
  1. Close and reopen Camtasia
  2. Full on reboot
  3. Contact Tech Support so we can dig into it more deeply

It is possible your canvas size has been set to something really small.  Open up the Project settings using the contextual menu on the canvas.

And make sure the canvas size is something reasonable, like 720p or 1080p.

If that does not help, follow Paul's suggestions.

That fixed it.  The contextual settings were off.
