Camtasia is Incompatible with Google Drive File Stream

Camtasia is incompatible with Google Drive File Stream.  GDFS is the next generation technology for Google Drive that is being rolled out by Google.  GDFS is also known as Team Drives.  Camtasia will crash outright if you try to open a project that references media stored on a GDFS folder on your local hard drive.  To make things worse, everything works fine while you are creating the project and adding media from your GDFS drive.  It all works, no problem.  But when you save and then later try to re-open the project, Camtasia crashes on load.

I have contacted technical support about this and they are unsympathetic.  Their only solution for me is to keep another copy of all my media files outside of the GDFS, thus taking up 2x the space on my local hard drive, and making more work for me.

As Google starts to move people away from the old Google Drive technology and onto GDFS, more and more people are going to have this problem.
