I tend to experience the same thing.  I have found, however, that it seems to be worse if I leave Camtasia open for days on end.  Typically, I'm always working on one thing or another, and find that I unintentionally leave the program running while I unplug and plug in my machine in different work environments.

Obviously, this shouldn't happen, but Camtasia on Mac has been buggy for me across multiple versions that they've released over the years.  I've just learned to shut it down and restart periodically as a workaround.

If we Mac users could get some stability, though, that'd be awesome

@paul, I'll be honest with you, every time I do, I'm told it's not a known issue, I'm asked to do a bunch of testing, can't replicate it, case closed, and I'm back to random crashing or other interface oddities.  Admittedly, it's been a while since I called in, but I just can't be your QA team, you know?  I have multiple monitors, but other than that, I'm just a guy on a Mac who wants to make videos, and Camtasia has NEVER been stable, across multiple versions, I'm afraid.

*Edit, while I haven't opened an official ticket in a while, I have regularly sent in crash reports whenever it crashes, detailing what I was trying to do when the crash occurred.  Hopefully, those actually go to someone for analysis.

Hi,

6 Steps fix your problem

Applications you introduce on your Mac can run into an assortment of issues. An application may decline to open a specific document, crash or hang in the work, or more terrible—crash at dispatch. Any inconsistent conduct that obstructs the capacity to utilize your Mac is baffling.

> Quit or Force-Quit the App

An application may hang in work. Following a couple of moments of this, your mouse pointer will transform into a turning rainbow volley ball. This demonstrates the application isn't reacting, which emerges because of a few reasons. These incorporate low free RAM, high CPU utilization, or a bug in the application.

More often than not, your different applications will keep on working. The pointer shows up as a volley ball just when it's over the window of the risky application. To tackle this issue, you have to stop the applications you aren't effectively utilizing and free up important assets.

To stop an application, carry it to the closer view (the application name ought to be noticeable in the menu bar) and pick Quit from the application's menu. The easy route Cmd + Q additionally works.

At the point when an application stalls out, and the normal Quit direction won't work, you have to drive stopped it. go to Apple menu > Force Quit or press Option + Cmd + Esc. Select the application right now, click Force Quit.

In the event that an application continues pursuing even you utilize the Force Quit direction, a subsequent endeavor ought to work.

> Restart Your Mac

This straightforward method can resolve hangs, crashes, memory spills, and different issues identified with an application. To restart, click Apple Menu and pick Restart. At the point when the affirmation alert shows up, click the Restart button.

macOS then stops all foundation applications and running procedures. This disposes of memory spills, opens up RAM and CPU, and lessens the quantity of virtual memory swap documents from the hard circle.

On the off chance that the Apple Menu won't open or your Mac is solidified, at that point press and hold Control + Cmd while you press the force catch to constrain a restart. On the other hand, you can press and hold the force button for roughly 10 seconds to restart your Mac.

Apply Software Updates

On the off chance that an application isn't working appropriately, you should download and apply any accessible updates. Dispatch the App Store, and snap the Updates button. To refresh the application, click the Update button beside it.

At the point when an application update is accessible, you'll additionally get a warning, and an identification will show up on the App Store symbol.

Applications you've downloaded from an engineer site could conceivably have a programmed update system. Some applications check for refreshes each time you dispatch, while others keep an eye on a fixed timetable, or just on request. Search for a Check for Updates order on the Help menu, Application menu, or the Preferences window.

Staying aware of updates is testing. To tackle this issue, turn on the programmed update include at whatever point conceivable or add the application to a Twitter list. The designer will probably share on Twitter when it discharges a minor or significant update to the application.

Check for Compatibility Issues

In case you're despite everything having issues, you ought to guarantee that your applications are perfect with the most up to date form of macOS. To do as such, open Apple Menu > About This Mac to check which OS variant you're utilizing. Most application engineers list similarity on their sites, so you can check if yours is bolstered.

While this ought to be no issue for most of applications, check with the engineer for explicit similarity with your variant of macOS if necessary. The designer may likewise refresh clients of any genuine similarity issues.

You ought to likewise check for old 32-piece applications on your framework. To do as such, open Apple Menu > About This Mac and snap on the System Report button.

Look down the left sheet and choose Applications from the Software area. Trust that couple of moments will fabricate the rundown of introduced applications. In the correct sheet, search for the 64-piece (Intel) section header. Alter the segment widths and snap the header to sort the rundown.

No methods the application is 32-piece, and Yes implies the application is 64-piece.

At WWDC 2018, Apple declared that macOS Mojave is authoritatively the last form to help 32-piece applications. This implies on the off chance that you depend on a 32-piece application, you should discover a substitution or contact the designer about refreshing it.

Beside this, most engineers have their applications all set when another macOS rendition discharges, however you may run into bugs at an early stage. Check bolster gatherings and comparative networks to check whether others have had your issue.

> Delete the Preference File

Inclination documents contain an application's settings. They're fundamental since they incorporate parameters required for an application to work effectively. In the event that there's a flaw in the inclination document, an application could encounter an accident, hang, or even degenerate information.
Most inclination records live in the accompanying Library envelopes:

As indicated by the Apple engineer documentation, the inclination records keep a standard naming show, known as turn around space naming framework. It incorporates the organization name, at that point application identifier, trailed by the property list record augmentation (.plist). For instance, com.apple.finder.plist is the inclination record for Finder.

A designer may utilize an exclusive naming show, however focusing on the application name for the most part makes it understood. For instance, org.idrix.Veracrypt.plist is the inclination document for the Veracrypt application.

To find the inclination record for an application, first quit it if it's running. Open the Library organizer and set the window to List see, at that point click the Name section to sort the rundown one after another in order.

Type the application name in the Search field. To limit the query items, click the Plus catch and set the second line to System documents are incorporated.

Drag the inclination record to your work area. Since a foundation server process keeps up the whole inclination engineering, you have to clear its reserve to expel the obsolete inclination data. Along these lines an application won't keep on utilizing the old inclination record.

To do this, pick Apple Menu > Log Out and log back in. Presently, open the Terminal and type killall cfprefsd, and press Return.

There's another method to evacuate inclination documents. AppCleaner is a free utility to uninstall any Mac application without deserting information. Yet, it can likewise expel the inclination record without contacting the remainder of an application.

Type an application name into AppCleaner, and snap it to stack the outcomes. Uncheck the application, tick the various alternatives, and snap Remove.

Talking about cleaning applications, here are a couple of variables you ought to consider while picking a Mac cleaning application. Regardless, CleanMyMac X is a decent instrument to keep your Mac fit as a fiddle. What's more, would you say you are keen on delving further into your Mac Library? Investigate our breakdown of the CoreServices envelope.

Delete the Cache

All Mac applications use stores. The reserve record stores every now and again utilized data, which helps applications run all the more effectively.

On the off chance that a reserve document gets degenerate for reasons unknown, at that point an application may crash or get rowdy while perusing that record. macOS may attempt to expel that degenerate reserve, but since of the shrouded idea of these store documents, issues coming about because of degenerate reserve substance are hard to discover.

Reserve documents live in the accompanying Library organizers:

The application name follows a similar naming show as the inclination documents. Stop the application, and search for the specific reserve document or organizer in the above area. When you find them, drag them to the garbage. The application will again recover the reserve records consequently.

In the event that the application has show issues, you should clean the framework level text style reserve. Open the Terminal and type the accompanying:

Press Return and type your overseer secret word at the brief. At the point when the procedure is finished, restart your Mac.

You ought not crash stores unpredictably, in light of the fact that they keep your Mac execution smooth. Erasing them implies your PC needs to modify them, so possibly do so when you have an issue.

I'm on Windows, and since working on a large project - a 30 minute video full of animations and whatnot - I've been struggling with Camtasia 2019 too. On that project, it got to the point where every 30-40 seconds, it would freeze for around 5 seconds. This essentially meant that around 12% of the time Camtasia was open, it wasn't usable, without taking into consideration the general disruption to workflow. If I switched to another program quickly to do something, more often than not the freeze would happen, so Camtasia would take a few seconds to come up on screen after trying to alt-tab to it.

In a smaller project I'm on now, it still happens, although only every 2 minutes maybe, and for 1 or 2 seconds at a time.

Camtasia has an autosave function to protect your work.

I'm believe the default setting is 2 minutes.
This could be the delay on the smaller project.

I typically set mine to 10 to 15 minutes. As its only needed if you crash the program or the power drops out.
Which for me is rare. If I lose 8 minutes of my work one day.I may wish it were set to 1 or 2 minutes instead.
You could change this to a longer time-frame temporally, see what happens.
If it works,  weigh the options. Make a risk/reward decision and chose a setting.
