I ́ve used Camtasia Mac 3 for 3 months without issues, but today, after trying some lines animation, the software instantly crashes.
Since then, every time i try to open an existing file or a new project, Camtasia crashes after 5 secs.
I try to get answers everywhere, but didn ́t find the same problem.
Can anyone save me?

I ́m using a MacBook Pro 2,8 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB
OS Sierra 10.12.6

Gusi, a few quick tips...

1) try re-downloading camtasia [likelyhood of working: 10%]
2) try creating a different user on your mac, and log in as that user, and try camtasia [likelyhood of working: 90%]

If #1 solves your issue, great!
If #2 solves your issue, you'll want to open an official support ticket (https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
This way they can help you find the corrupt file that's part of your normal profile, and reset it.

Ey Jack! Me again.
Tech Support is still trying to identify the problem.
Do you have any suggestion to finally work with Camtasia Mac 3 on my main (and only) User?
Thanks again

If it works as a guest user, and not as your regular user, thats actually a great thing, and tells us quite a lot.

  • All users share the /Applications folder - so your copy of Camtasia is good!
  • Each user has his or her own application settings, so your main user's settings are likely corrupt.

Techsmith Tech Support is likely more qualified to help you troubleshoot this than I am, but here's what I would try:

Overview: we're going to remove the application settings files....

 Prerequisites:
1) Make sure you have your license key in a safe place, as this may erase the key and you may need to re-enter it.
2) If you have a backup drive like Time Machine, it's a good idea to back up your system completely. (you should be doing this anyways, so if you're not, go do it now, then proceed)
3) Download an app called "AppCleaner" by freemacsoft.net

Steps to remove settings files:
4) Log in as the "broken" user
5) Camtasia should not be running!
6) run the AppCleaner app
7) Open your "Applications" folder in the finder, and locate camtasia 3
8) Drag and drop Camtaisa 3 into the AppCleaner window.
9) AppCleaner should look like the picture give or take - UNCHECK the Camtasia 3.app entry

10) Click remove.
This will delete all the application settings files, and if you unchecked camtasia, camtasia should still be on your mac.

11) Start Camtasia.
In most cases, this will be just like starting an app for the first time - you might be prompted for your license key, see 'welcome' tutorials, etc. This is expected behavior.

Thanks for the feedback - you said it does work as a different user right?
If so there should be a solution!

Yes!! That ́s it!
Now i want to use it on my user, or at list copy the files to the guest user.
Thank you very much Jack!
