Well similar to how you have these green recording window corners, may be you can add an image of the text "Paused" or something similar in the middle of the recording screen when the recording is paused. When I say image, I really mean only image. It shouldnt be a clickable button to toggle between pause and play. If a button it could become messy for the user for example, if he is doing something on the screen while not recording he might click the button by mistake, also you dont want the user to be tempted to go and click play button in the middle of the recording screen when he actually wants to show something or annotate something in some other place on the screen.
This text will always remind user that he needs to resume pause before starting to talk or move cursor on the recording screen.
Currently, while recording when the user needs to toggle between pause and resume he needs to check on the recorder eachtime if the recorder is running, and for example when I am recording video of 1 hour or more, I need to toggle between pause and resume so many times that may be sometimes I didnt even start recording and I am doing my stuff on the screen that needed to be recorded.
Many times you are probably showing something that can be done only once in the project, and if you did not record it. Then you will again have to create a similar scenario and try to demonstrate it.
Finally, you can create an option where user can enable or disable this image of the text "Paused". This text can also be the caption text which is already present but it is totally your product manager's choice, as anyway this text will not be present in the recording.

Try this, I've been doing it for years.

Go into tool recorder options.
Under  the"Program"tab.
Set minimize recorder to:                               ."If recorder will be recorded"

You can place the recording toolbar anywhere you wish.

When you start the recording it will vanish.

When you pause the recording it pop-ups right where it was. You can't miss it. When the recording resumes, it will vanish again.

The setting minimize to:
With older versions of Camtasia. Minimizing to system tray was the best option.
I've stuck with that setting as a result.

Regards,Joe

I pause and resume with the keyboard shortcut aswell, thank you for the suggestion and it worked. But it is still not intuative for the users. Hopefully, they will add this feature, as they dont loose nothing by adding this, ofcourse expcept developers time. I am seriously considering buying this software, but it is quiet expensive any suggestions to get reasonable discount price?
