I've seen that the minimum requirements for the actual camtasia Software ist Windows 7/8. We have some old Lab PCs on which we d'like to recorde some measurements. Is there a possibility to get an Camtasia version that runs under win XP?

If you have a valid Camtasia licence. You can use that same key for older versions of Camtasia.

I'm not sure what  you are trying to accomplish. I don't even know if Camtasia 7 is  your best option.

Considerer this, Windows Vista became available as an upgrade for XP in Nov. 2006 for the Business users and then made available for Home use in Jan 2007.
Camtasia 6 was released in    2008.
Camtasia  5   "                          "   2007.
Camtasia 4    "                         "  2006.
To me, that may indicate that an even older version of Camtasia could be more compatible with XP.

As an example. Camtasia 7 has a know bug in Windows 8. When I record a voice narration in the editor. It gives me an error message and the audio cannot be saved.
TechSmith is aware of this bug. There are other bugs  I won't go into as well.
"I talked to Tech Support about this issue myself ".  They won't be correcting it because technical support for Camtasia 7 has  expired. That's understandable, but it makes some aspects of  Camtasia 7 a poor choice for a Windows 8 user.

The Point is  >>>>>>> Maybe Camtasia 5 is more compatible with  XP because of this.
Trial and Error Installation of different versions may yield a better user experience for you.

You can download and install a new or an older version from this link. Selecting the "Free Trial" Icon will download the newest version.

If you can't locate your Activation Key use this site for that.

You need to Submit your e-mail address to this Web Page to get your Key.

Camtasia Studio 8.3.0 was the last version that officially worked with Windows XP. It also requires Service Pack 3 is applied to the machine.

I suppose there's a chance that newer versions might work (or partially work) on Windows XP, but we're not testing on that OS anymore.

You can download the older versions from like Joe said above.
