what is the media on timeline; where did it come from?

the CS editor is not able to handle it; maybe a file incompatibility issue?

Not sure that this applies, but I suddenly got this "error" in version 2019. Unable to move anything on the timeline. After removing all the files on the timeline, I realized that I had a  library preview window open behind the Camtasia app with one of the assets I had dragged to the timeline, thus this was active and the timeline was not. That may have been the reason you weren't able to drag any assets on the timeline.
