Hello Camtasia friends, ( sorry for my english i'm from italy and google traslate is helping me) i'm using camtasia 9
I would like to use my camcorder as a webcam for my tutorials, I am currently using a logitec C920 webcam which is at 1080p and it  works well, but I would like to make a qualitative leap and would like to use my panasonic V770 1080p as webcam, so I need to have a video capture card and after doing a lot of research on Google and Youtube I found the Elgato Camlink, and I saw it works well with  on OBS but i'm not sure if it works with Camtasia studio, so before i Buy it i need your help, because  i wanna make sure  I'don't make any wrong purchase
Thank you for yourhelp

First, there's only no reason it can't work well for you. Of all the comments at my local "Best Buy" store, those that had excellent hardware gave 5-stars, those that didn't - 2 or 3 stars. Nobody tested  Camtasia, but if your C920 works, no reason the Cam Link wouldn't, other than . . .
So how old/new is your computer? (Quad core I5 is reported as good enough). Can you buy it and take it back in a week, if it doesn't do what you need?
I may be lucky in that, I can buy things at about a dozen retail outlets nearby, and if the item doesn't meet MY expectations, I can return for a full refund. (Last year I tried 6 laptops at Costco, over a 2 week period, and took all 6 back - before they changed their policy and let me run test s/w on their demo units.)
If you do go ahead and the Cam Link works for you, could show us what it does for you? Good Luck.

Hello Ed ovney thank you for your answer, I also belive that  CamLink should work with camtasia as you said there is no reason, but is strange that nobody tried yet Camtasia with Camlink... also in italy doesn't work  like in USA , ones you bought something you cannot send back.. in amzon i can send back only if is broken and not if this doesn't fit you , let's wait  some others answers mybe sombody else had the Experience with camlink/camtasia, thank  you

Hello Gerardo - While we wait in hopes someone can better answer your question, if I were able to get one for testing, what would you need to know? Also they have 1080p and 2160p models, which are you interested in? Also, what computer do you have. I have several and I could try to match yours as closely as possible.

I've read some Amazon customer reviews on the panasonic V770 streaming capability's.

Review 1. The stream varies between 10fps(ok) and 20(good)fps, up to 30fps (awesome).

Review2.
Q: Does the wifi streaming capability stream audio? can you record and stream at the same time?
A: Yes, the wi-fi streaming through Ustream does stream audio. You can stream and record at the same time, but I’ve noticed the resolution of the stream drops significantly when you do both.

When streaming alone, I can get 25-30 fps, but when I do both, the stream usually drops to 10-20fps, regardless of the wi-fi or cellular connection. For the events I was streaming (youth sports), people still appreciated having the stream.

So, I'm not sure the camera will be all you want it to be? 10 to 20 fps is pretty juddery and jittery. I wouldn't want to use the footage if that's all you can get out of it. Perhaps a 1280x720 setting would work better?

Not trying to dampen your cornflakes.I was actually just looking over the camera to make sure it would stream video. And found these reviews.

Regards,Joe

In my opinion, you can use separate with camcorder and camtasia. how? you can record your talking head and record in camtasia with microphone at the same time. in editing process,  match your voice from camcorder and camtasia then delete voice low quality. with this, you don't need Elgato.

Hi Bartek - does the video have a consistent lag?
If it lags by 7 or 8 video frames consistently throughout the capture,  that be corrected in Camtasia.
