Camtasia Studio crashes when multitasking

I've never had this issue with Camtasia Studio before, but now whenever I try to do anything else on my computer (even basic things like using the calculator) while Camtasia is open or rendering, Camtasia crashes (nothing new has been installed recently, this is completely out of the blue). Also, If I try to move Camtasia Studio from one monitor to another, even without anything else running, it will crash. These issues are very problematic since if a video needs 4-5 hours to render, that means I can't do anything else at all on my computer in that time, which isn't feasible if I need to finish multiple videos each day as well as get other work done. Thank you if you can help.

Hi aeriodongaming - did you ever get this issue resolved? I just started using Camtasia and have a similar problem. When I multi-task and open another file on my desktop, it crashes my system. I am working with tech support now, but so far nothing solved. Thanks.

Strange behavior and I will have to see if I can run into this issue as I have been rendering video and working on another software or surfing the internet and had not had this happen. I need to try and push the limits and open more than one or two files and move them to my second monitor and see what happens.

I hope TechSmith Support helps you get this resolved and when and if they do would you post back what the issue was and how it was resolved/fixed please for others to see that may be having this same issue or problem ? Thanks for posting and have a great day/night. :)

I've had this issue, and spent at least THREE days on the phone/chat/email with support. Then I googled Techsmith's own support pages, and found the best answer I've seen to date:

"Often this happens to a single, heavily edited project. Every edit creates more data stored to the .camproj file. After every edit, the .camproj is rewritten and as more data is added, subsequent rewrites take longer. If a .camproj becomes too complex, it can crash.  We normally see crashes occur more often with projects where the .camproj file is above 1MB in file size.  That does not mean all projects that are larger than that will crash, it just means it will have a better chance of crashing as compared to a smaller project."
